Front Turn Signal Mount

I've taken the fairing off so many times that I finally pulled one of the studs out of the turn signal mount. I tried to JB weld it into the mount, but when I tried to get it tight this evening, it just pulled out again.

Is there a suitable, STRONG, aftermarket replacement? If I buy a new stock HD one, PN 68933-04, I'm going to JB weld the stud in the hole to start with.

Thanks.

Rusty, I had the same problem with mine.
I replaced the studs with 5/16 - 18 Hex Head Bolts and haven't had a problem since.
If you want to keep the studs you can always use 5x16 -18 threaded rod.
Hope this helps.

how tight are you cranking on them acorn nuts? when you say 'pulled', are you saying that the stud came out of the turn signal with the threads and all, or twisted off when you turned the acorn nut 'lefty'?

I had one twist out with the acorn nut and I just took the nut off, put a dab of blue Loctite and screwed it back into the turn signal using the allen head recess on the stud. has never loosened again.

If you're going to work on Harley's...

better acquaint yourself with Heli-Coil thread inserts, available in any hardware or parts store.

Had that happen to me, after so many time removing the outer fairing the threads stripped out on my turn signal housing. After trying JB weld and other stuff that didn't work I just called PC pain and ordered new housings, they aren't that expensive but you have to use the wiring harness that you already have unless you order a new one.

I had already used RED loctite to get it to stay in the housing. Oh well, I went ahead and ordered a pair of new ones. The left side will give up eventually.
