I've read the posts that I could find about this but can't find an answer. I want to run a Custom/Street Glide type rear turn signal bar on my 2012 Ultra. I found a bar on CL and got Custom Dynamics 1157 LED's and a badlands load equalizer. I want to be able to have the light bar work in addition to the ultra brake light, with all three lights working as run and brake lights and the small lights as signals. So basically like a Custom with an added center brake light. I'm also running a tribar light in the fascia as well.

My issue is figuring out where to connect everything in the brake light base. There are slots for the brake light, the turn signals and the tri-bar, which has a run and brake circuit as well as a ground (picture attached). I already soldered the wires for the plate light into the running and ground wires on one of the lights, so that doesn't need a connection. I can take the connector for the tri-bar and split it, running one to the tri-bar and the other to light bar. But that will only give me the option of having run/brake or run/turn on the signal lights. If I hook up the brake circuit and then apply the brakes the flash signal won't have any affect.

Does anyone know if I get the run/turn/brake module will that let me run the dual filament 1157 bulbs and how would I need to wire it up?

You don't need to split any wires for this to work. Plug everything into stock locations and either get the CD triple play module or the HD run/brake/turn module and that's it. I run CD load equalizer and HD run/brake/turn module on my 2012 RGU. If you get the CD triple play you don't the HD module or a load equalizer.

So you've done the same thing? With a street Glide / fltrx turn signal bar? What are you calling the "stock location". The TRX light bar had an 8 pin connector on the end. The only thing close enough on the brake light base would be where the harness that runs under the fender plugs in.

Also, the CD triple play says it only works with single intensity lights. The fltrx turn signals are dual intensity. Did you swap them out for singles?

Yes I did the same thing, I used a turn signal light bar and tri bar from a 2009 street glide. Everything was plug and play except for the license plate light which I did solder in. Again I didn't use the triple play I used the CD load equalizer and the HD run/brake/turn module. I do run the CD LED. All lights work as run/brake and only the lights or the signal bar work as signals.

Not sure of exactly what you have but the 09 stuff plugged in to my factory slots. I'm also running the Bright Ass taillight which has the same factory style plug locations as my factory taillight.

I think mine was from a '13. Not 100% sure. It was a swap meet buy.

Do you know if your CD LED's are single intensity or dual? and did it have a 3 pin connector that plugged in above the brake light on the tail light base? Or did you have to plug it in under the seat, like on the custom?

Bulbs are dual intensity and light bar plugged into tail light

I took my taillight off so you could have a pic. Turn signal bar as two plugs one from each side each plug as one black and one purple wire from each side. Plugs in top on each side of the center mounting screw. The tri bar light is three wires red/white/black that plugs in upper left. Below tri bar plug is taillight plug. Far right multi wire plug is from main harness.

If you have a 2012 RGU it should have looked like this minus the tri bar plug, but the socket is there. I have done a few of these for others and all were the same on 2011-13

Thanks. That's what mine looks like. I'm trying to figure out your wiring pattern. Without a run/turn/brake module I can wire mine up so that the turn signals work as running lights on the low power circuit and will flash when the blinkers are on. I'm actually OK with that since I will have the tri-bar light as a second brake light . Ideally I would like the turn signal lights to work as running lights, blinkers and brake lights. It looks like I won't be able to do that without the module.

Plan B would be to convert the light bar to single intensity bulb holders and go with a module but that would involve getting new 1156 LED's.

The turn signal bar has 8 wires coming from it. A black ground, blue running and purple brake from each light and two black wires for the plate light. I soldered the plate light wires to the ground and running wires for one of the lights on the under side of the bar, just so there is one less set of wires to deal with inside the brake light housing. I can run the ground and running wires for both lights to the corresponding wires on the tri-bar connector and then connect the purple wires to the positive terminal of each turn signal connector.

Spoke to Bandit on the phone. Got it sorted out. He has single intensity led clusters in his turn signals, just like the stock 2012 ultra. The 2009 street Glide light bar comes that way, which is why it plugs in and works with the HD r/t/b module.

My turn signal bar must be a later model. My options are:

A to run it as I have it set up right now, so that the turn lights work as just running lights and blinkers

B to switch out the light holders in the bar to the single intensity holders from the stock ultra bar and get 1156 led clusters and a module.

I'm thinking option B
