Is my left turn signal switch bad???

Hey guys. The other day, I was coming home and my left turn sig just started coming on and off uncommanded. Haven't ridden since but noticed when you turn the ignition on, the left turn sig is in immediately and turned off when hitting the right turn sig. I don't have a meter to test it but is it safe to say it's probably the switch ? I mean, everything else works as is, the bulbs are good.. would it do this if the plug was loose in the fairing? I'm doubting that as it probably wouldn't work at all. I found a replacement switch from jp cycles for 20 and getting ready to just grab it and replace it.

Seems like a fairly simple task just splicing in the new wires and swapping switches.

This is a 12 road glide custom by the way.

Any input would be really appreciated! Thanks

It's a good possibility the switch is bad, or the wiring at the switch got frayed and it's touching both terminals, creating a constant on. Maybe pull it apart first and see if there's anything obvious in that switch housing before ordering a new one. Maybe it has some corrosion in it which is also keeping it in the constant on position. Once you get it out of the housing, carefully pop the plastic cover off the switch itself. If no wiring is messed up, shoot it with some electrical contact cleaner ans see if that does the trick.

How many times has the fairing been off? Might have a pinched wire grounding.

Have the bars been changed recently? I would agree with the other guys, have a poke around first, look for pinched wires.

Sounds like a pinched wire to me as well.

Sometimes these things surface for their down the road. Take your fairing off, turn the key on and move the wires around. Have you tried turning the key on and turning your bars right and left a bunch? Good luck with your search.

It's real easy to pinch the turn signal wires on a pre Rushmore fairing. That's a good place to start.
