Running lights/turn signal problem

Hello everyone. I'm hoping maybe i can find some help from some smarter people than me..My bike is a 2013 fltrx. I noticed today my front right side running lightstopped working. The turn turn signal still works. So i tried replacing the bulb. I made sure it was an 1157. No change, blinker but no running light. So i took the original and swapped it with the left side, worked as it should. Took the bulb from the left side and put it in the right- same problem. There do not appear to be any broken elements in any of the bulbs. That tells me it's not a bulb issue, but with the housing and/or wiring. Really not looking to pay the dealer a huge bill for something so minor. Anybody had a similar problem or have any ideas i can do to trouleshoot or fix it? Thanks in advance

Have you or anyone else had the fairing off recently? I have seen before where the wiring harness was not routed well or correctly during reinstallation and the harness was getting pinched. The wire would break inside of the sheath it is in. Look for an area on the harness where it looks unusually flatter or distorted. Check the bulb socket and make sure the contacts are good, verify this by comparing it to the other side or even the rear. Also if you are familiar with an ohm meter, disconnect the harness, remove the bulb and check for continuity on the connector end to the socket terminals. Or, remove the lamp assembly from the right and plug it into the left and left to right like you did with the bulbs. If you are coming up with nothing there then you will have to dig into the main harnesses, but have personally never heard of the problem going back that far unless somebody was messing around with that part of the harness.

Crap. Thanks man. Yeah, just changed the handlebars and installed an amp and 4 speakers a couple months ago. I remember then the wiring was pretty flat but had never had a problem. Well, looks like i have a problem now. Any idea if i can just splice in new wires or if i need to re-wire from scratch?

Once you can identify the suspect area I would cut open the sheath (might have a different name but this is what I call it) and identify where the wire is broken. If others look suspect I'd just take care of them at the same time. Solder the wire/s back together and use heat shrink. If this is out of your wheelhouse maybe remove the complete assembly and bring it to the dealer or even an auto repair shop can help you. Even send it to me and I'll help you out too if necessary.

No, that's pretty much what i thought already. Probably better to re-run it all the way to the wire harness but it should be alright to just splice. Kinda just wanted a second opinion on that. Thanks for the help withthe diagnosis. Somehow totally forgot about. Those wires being smashed. Easy enough. Just more crap i have to do. Thanks again BH
