HD stage 4 installed and the dyno man screwed up

I had the HD 103" stage 4 installed in my bike and I am still using my original SERT but the problem I am having is with the idiot running the dyno. The bike was on the dyno all day Friday and around 11am Saturday I get a call from the dyno guy saying my bike is done. I go pick up the bike with a trailer because it was raining upon getting there the tuner wasn't available he stepped out and won't be back until Tuesday so I payed for the service went out started the bike and loaded it in the trailer. When I got home I started the bike and let it run for a few minutes then shut it off then a couple minutes later I go to start the bike again and it WON'T START it will crank over and spit and pop once in a while but it won't start. I hook the battery charger to the bike to make sure the battery stays up and I try it again and if I play with the throttle giving the bike around a 1/8 of a throttle the bike would try to start. Letting the bike starter cool down for a hour I went to start the bike again and it started let it warm up shut the bike off try to start it and it just cranks, if I do the throttle thing I may get a pop or a spit out of the bike. Obviously The asshole that done the tuning doesn't know shit and it make no sense to take it back to him and I assume I will never get a refund from him and now I got to find a good tuner that knows how to tune the bike correctly and pay again. It really pisses me off and I may see a lawyer to see if I have any legal grounds to stand on but in the meantime I need to find a good tuner in Arizona or southern Nevada area and I am looking for recommendations, it seems that the HD dealers are the only one in the area with a dyno other then this asshole.

hopefully you can get your money back.....scenarios like this are why I spent the bucks for a good auto-tuner.I'm not racing so I really don't need every last bit out of it anyway.Just a good running bike.

Perhaps with the money you spent back in your pocket you might go that route? No question a good dyno-tune is really dialed in better, but it depends on the operator.

just an idea.

Was this done at a dealer or an indy? Just curious on that point, but in either case they need to make it right for you. You mentioned going to a lawyer, but I am pretty certain that the lawyer would suggest you give them a chance to make it work for you.

Hope it all works out - I am sure it will, just frustrating I know.

I agree. Give them a call and a chance to make it right. And if they won't give Steve at GMR a call he'll fix you up for sure.

It is a long story but I am trying to make it short. I already gave this guy a chance I had him do the work on the bike when putting the stage 3 together and when he got done polishing the heads he used the same valve seals even though they were the seals that came with the new heads, the result was that the bike blew (not a puff) blue oil smoke out of the exhaust when started then he took the heads off and replace the valve seals, even now after he replaced the valve seals the bike blows blue and black smoke when I can get the bike started (the bike only starts when it is cold now), I originally had him do just the heads and 10.5-1 pistons and he insisted that the 255 cams in my bike would be good, then after no improvement in performance after the first dyno tune he then wanted to go with the 259E cams as I suggested to him when the build first began and to make it a complete stage 4 we went with the Throttle body and injector upgrade as well. This guy could not do a good dyno tune on the first upgrade and blamed it on the cams (which is understandable)and then he totally screwed up the second dyno tune, this guy is truly a bad apple and to give him another chance to screw up my bike would be foolish on my part the only other foolish thing I did was to walk into his shop listen to his line of shit and let him do the work. This is the guy who is did this to my bike and he is a total rip off IMO. www.kellysperformancespecialist.com

Re: HD stage 4 installed and the dyno man screwed up

After or hell before getting your bike returned go file in small claims court against him. In most states you can recover up to 5k. Usually about $65 to file. Tell judge the whole story and ask for punitive $ also. I bet that gets his attention. Also u could file a complaint against him w the BBB and if he doesn't agree to refund they set it for a hearing. A bad BBB complaint or two can really hurt a business. Also spread the word among fellow riders - at bike nights etc. The word of mouth is usually the best or worst advertising a small business can depend on. You've got some power concerning this situation. Attack!!!

I looked for a while to find someone that I thought could do a good tune, Harley had the dyno so I let them do the work. fair tune but I feel it could be much better. I don't think they put the time in the tune. So the next go round will be thunder max. I wish I would have done an auto tune in the first place.
