You state that alot of belts brake?? I'm not sure what problems some are having. My last Fltr I would go through 2-3 rear tires a year doing massive burnouts. 33k never had an issue with the belt or the pulley, but I never had the dealer touch the bike either. Those years the belts were wider, not sure if that makes a difference. Harley used to sell a reinforced belt for the sidecar bike, that some guys would swear by. Good luck on your search

the OEM belts are pretty tough my TURBO V-ROD had the same width belt as the glide has and pushing 160 hp at the 260 rear tire used to rip whole shots all the time 30 feet long 2 gears and had over 50k on the original belt so they hold up!! I personaly would go with the belt.

Went to the 30t pulley and installed a Gates Polychain 136 last Oct. Also installed a SE Compensator & Primo Rivera Pro Clutch (w/variable pressure plate). Haven't put many miles on it since but I do like the improvment. Now to install a new TW-222 cams, lifters & adj pushrods. I probably will think I bought a new bike this summer.

I will be going to a 30t over the winter break (no snow yet in my part of the sticks) so still riding. Once the real bad weather hits onto the lift she goes.

the site below will give you the info your looking for...be sure to enter your rear tire size too...change the front or rear gear and it will show you rpm's / speed in every gear...plus other info: Cool tool to have, enjoy it:

I just changed from a belt final drive to chain final drive, to figure your gear ratio take your rear pulley teeth and divide it by the front tooth amount, that will be your ratio . Stock ratio on a chain conversation is 23 front and 50 rear = 2.17-1 mine is 23 front and 51 rear = 2.21-1 , sixth gear stock rpm at 80mph was 3000rpm,now it's 3100rpm at 80mph

Dmax, I don't know if you already have you parts or not, but I have this setup for sale in ' parts for sale' the Andrews 30 tooth and a gates 139-1 poly chain belt, reasonable offers accepted... Gates belt is extremely reliable, run them on bikes with high HP and launch off the line with no issues..... I went with a 49 tooth basket instead, after I purchased the pulley and belt, both are in original packaging....
