You state that alot of belts brake?? I'm not sure what problems some are having. My last Fltr I would go through 2-3 rear tires a year doing massive burnouts. 33k never had an issue with the belt or the pulley, but I never had the dealer touch the bike either. Those years the belts were wider, not sure if that makes a difference. Harley used to sell a reinforced belt for the sidecar bike, that some guys would swear by. Good luck on your search

Talking 136" Polychain

I changed to a 30 tooth trike pulley from stock 32 last Sept. I've put @ 6000k
Miles on the bike since. No problems. I don't do hole shots or burn outs. I enjoy my bike and don't mind working on it , but I don' need to create extra work.

Went to the 30t pulley and installed a Gates Polychain 136 last Oct. Also installed a SE Compensator & Primo Rivera Pro Clutch (w/variable pressure plate). Haven't put many miles on it since but I do like the improvment. Now to install a new TW-222 cams, lifters & adj pushrods. I probably will think I bought a new bike this summer.

the OEM belts are pretty tough my TURBO V-ROD had the same width belt as the glide has and pushing 160 hp at the 260 rear tire used to rip whole shots all the time 30 feet long 2 gears and had over 50k on the original belt so they hold up!! I personaly would go with the belt.

What's the point to a 30T ? I thought going up in teeth would allow tranny to lower rpm's ?

Going down in teeth lowers the overall final drive ratio giving better acceleration. On the flip side you run higher rpms across the board.

2011 RGU with more money then sence in it.
Oh and its black because blacks faster.

I would guess about 6.2% higher. That's based on comments earlier in the thread that the stock belt is 32 tooth and the replacement would be 30 tooth.
that's a difference of roughly 6.2%. translate that to a normal running rpm of 2500 would now be 2655 rpm.....

I will be going to a 30t over the winter break (no snow yet in my part of the sticks) so still riding. Once the real bad weather hits onto the lift she goes.

the site below will give you the info your looking for...be sure to enter your rear tire size too...change the front or rear gear and it will show you rpm's / speed in every gear...plus other info: Cool tool to have, enjoy it:
