Has anyone had any problems with their AIM clutch kit not letting you shift? I put a 107 kit in and installed the AIM kit. Since then, my shifter is noticeably harder to pull up when riding somewhat aggressively. When I really give it the juice and try to shift at high RPM it won't shift at all. It almost seems as the clutch never disengages when I pull the lever! I've tried letting the RPM's drop when shifting but it seems I lose so many RPM that its not worth having. My adjustment is spot on according to the installation instructions...anybody else have this issue?
You can't shift at all, or it's just difficult?? You can shift even without the clutch, put some medium pressure on the shifter and back off the throttle, it'll shift, may not be super pretty but it will shift. OR, under full throttle, put medium pressure on the shifter, hold the throttle wide open, and just flip the clutch lever real quick. Again, it will shift, maybe not gracefully, but it will shift.
If it simply won't shift under these conditions, you've got something other than the clutch causing problems.
Tdk....I'm very familiar with shifting with no clutch. This thing, whether the clutch is pulled or blipping the throttle, WILL NOT shift above 5000 RPM. Even at lower RPM (3000-3500) it is fairly difficult to pull the shifter up. It's like the freaking thing is completely locked at high RPM.
Skratch...I'll check the centering of it. Mine was pretty snug to fit.
Mine was the exact same. I had mine adjusted to start engaging pretty close to the grip so the second you eased off the clutch it pulled. When I readjusted to engage around the middle it's smooth like butter!
That depends. Where does yours engage and start moving the motorcycle now? Is it closer to the grip or further towards the end of the lever travel? I adjusted mine to almost exactly the middle...maybe just a little farther past the middle and it works perfect! I think we're talking about the same thing...but you're talking about when the clutch starts working when you pull it in...I'm talking about when you let it out.
