Thumbs down '12 Road Glide Ultra Stage IV

So i had the SE Stage IV it done with Screamin Eagle slip ons.
Have about 300 miles on since work was done. Weather was cool this spring, bike ran great. Now that temps are getting to the mid 70's+, bike pings with the slightest roll on of the throttle, at anywhere from 2500 to 3500 RPM.
Only way to keep the engine from pinging is to keep RPM's at 3K+.
Dealer says the condition is normal and should go away as more miles are ridden.
Thoughts or similar experiences anyone? I would rather be able to ride in 6th at 70 MPH than 5th!

I have had my stage 4 in for 1,650mi. now, Its been tuned twice by dealer on dyno and might need a third tuning. It doesnt ping but rear cyl. cuts out at idle when ridden hard (temp.safty) Other wise I am verry happy!!! I run prem. fuel always, Comp. likes octain!! HP 107, TQ 105, 100HP at 2,050rpm. Verry streetable motor. Enjoy the sickness

I run premium fuel, what about some STP Octane boost? do I need to worry about damaging/burning pistons?

I don't think is a normal condition the way your bike running. I question your dealers opinion. Sounds like your bike is running on the lean side with the set up you have.

Don't have Stage 4 but this doesn't sound right to me at all, especially the dealer's thinly veiled message of "take this bike out of my shop and good luck." Since when does pronounced detonation go away with more miles? Does the plumber say that the leak will disappear when more gallons of water are run through the pipes?

Your bike should be able to run comfortably at lower Rpms without it pinging. Besides looking at another dealer, look for a good reputable tuner in your area that has experience tuning bikes. From my personal experience and other people's experience, some dealerships do not have the experience or talent in their shops to properly tune modified engine set ups. Sounds like you invested some money in your bike, you should be able to enjoy the benefits.
