Center case bolt...

Hello, JohnZ here from Chicago. I have an '07 RoadGlide with a healthy 117CI engine. In regards to the center case bolt, in the process of snugging down this center case allen bolt, I apparently snapped what appeared and felt like a hard plastic or maybe Teflon type of washer that was seated at the base of this center case bolt. For a temp fix, I applied some high-temp RTV silicon around the base area of the center case bolt which did not solve the problem as I now have a slight oil leak coming from the center bolt area when the bike is at operating temperature. Question: Could someone please post up what exactly I broke along with the type/size of washer I need and where I can purchase this item to replace the broken washer. Thanks so much fer yer time....

Sounds like the nylon sleeve that necks the 5/16" OEM hole down to the 1/4" thru bolt that Axtell Sales, Des Moines, IA, provides with their 4 1/8" cylinder kits.

Thanks fer the quick response Scott. Doing some research, your suggestion was dead on. What I snapped was what was described as a nylon sealer/spacer, a reducer per se. I was informed that due to the center of this bolt being machined for internal clearance purposes, there is a 50/50 chance that this center case bolt will either come out completely without issue or come out partially. To actually remove this center case bolt, one of the cylinders will have to be removed which is what I'm trying to avoid at all cost. It was suggested that if I can pull out about an inch or so of the case bolt, I can make a lengthwise cut on the nylon sleeve and carefully press it around the base of allen bolt, apply black RTV high-temp silicon and reinsert bolt with just a snug tightening. Damn, all this for a fifty cent item!

Basically no reason to have "researched", as we have machined cases, and used Axtell kits for over 20 plus years here, and at one time we were their largest account, outside of distributor level.
