SE Power cam - Pregunta

Been reading thru out the forum but have not found anyone touching on my particular concern.
During or after the holidays im planning on a stage 2 upgrade .
Although there may be better cams out there, for the average Joe like myself the SE Torque or Power cam is sufficient. On top of that, I want to keep my factory warranty in tact and going by what the dealer informed me, doing this upgrade with them my warranty would not be affected.

Im leaning towards the Power cam.
But I would like to hear from the experts here.
I would say 90% of my Riding is on the Highway at 70 mph and up.
My Typical cruising RPM is about 3200-3500
I m looking at the Power cam cause I want more top speed which I believe is what the Power cam offers. Am i correct on that ? I want to be able to be doing 80 mph and give it throttle and be at 100
instantly . Am i a candidate for the Power cam or is the Torque cam what I need at that speed?

Secondary question is If I do go with the Power cam what is the down side ?
Will I be a complete pig off the line now?

Thanks!

With your Hwy Speeds and the type of pull you want.....Power Cam all day

If properly tuned with the HD Stuff, any down low loss will not register too much on the old Butt Dyno. The wide variances just aren't there with the HDSE Stuff in terms of how far one way or tother the motor can go - True aftermarket, yes, HD SE Stuff...not so much in terms of just a Stage 2

thanks Eddy...

Im really undecided which way to go...
I like 1/4 mile speed as well and like the pull the bike gives off the line..

LOL I can only have one bike though,,,,

Say I went with the Torque cam.. What could I expect on the hiway doing 80mph and give it throttle...

I am not sure about the stage 2 upgrade cams. I have the stage 3 with the SE8 498 cam. It is absolutely perfect for the interstate. 2800 rpm the bike goes over 110 ftlbs and never goes below 110 ftlbs until 5400 rpm. It does not feel doggy on the bottom either. I did have it tuned with a Power Vision because the SE tuner is epa junk. It picked up 7hp and 9 ftlbs with the Power Vision tuner.

You're smack in the middle of the umph band at 80 with the Torque cam. You're gonna jump! By 100 you're falling off the power. My license is falling out of my wallet at that speed so I don't go there too often.......... Plenty of power in the range I ride, which is why I chose the Torque cam over the Power.

80 MPH on a 107 and you are just about 3K RPMS......the Trq Cam has a DRAMATIC drop off at 4K......seen quite a few Dyno Sheets to prove this - The Power Cam is designed to give you better pull from 3K to Red Line - The Trq Cam is Idle (1K) to 4K and then drop.

Both are designed for certain needs - Some never go over 4K and don't do much Hwy.....others like the extra UMPH for 5th gear rolls.......it all depends on what you want - 1/8th mile pull or Hwy way Rolls

I cannot speak to the 107 but the Stage 2 Power Cam on my 117 is spot on perfect - Down low on these bikes is already pretty damn good in stock trim (ran my old 107 stock and had zero complaints) so IMHO, the power cam is the way to go to really even the motor out - Not sure what the dealer scene is like around you but most have Pull Sheets you can check out for yourself and see what blows your skirt up.

Either way you go, my .02 is the Stage 2 is a GREAT Mod Set without getting too deep into the motor

Never mind the numbers.....just look at the lines of my Sheet - Torque begins to slowly drop off at 4K but the HP continues to climb.......motor balance - Also, look how smooth the HP is on the way up so when the Trq begins to drop in higher RPMs, the HP is there do do its thing - This is what I like about the Power Cam

Pull sheets with the Trq Cam have a GREAT Line Up....to 4K and then it really drops hard and stock HP in these motors just is not there to even it out.......a Big Twin was never built with HP in mind

I am no wrench and trust (1) guy to do my work and when I asked, he pulled up 4 diff Pull sheets to show me......then showed me the below and it made sense to me - I am sure others will disagree but I am just going off Dyno Run Sheets, caring less about numbers and more about linearity and the overall tune

Im set to get the Stage 2 power cam in my 2019 Roadglide Ultra 114. I been researching and you never see much on the power cam everyone seems to get the torque cam. I however agree with Steadyeddie and Stillgumpy I do a lot of highway riding the torque cam seems to run out for me I don't have a problem upshifting to get it in the power band and keep going. The torque cam just seems to run out. I will see goes in late this week, im excited.

For what you describe get the Power Cam. I had the Torque Cam in my Fat Bob and thought it did well at first as the response off the line was immediate for what it was. After I got used to it you could feel where it would flatten out by 4k and the pull from there was a bit slow. Even on the smaller framed Fat Bob. I just installed the Power Cam on my 2018 FLTRXS and I don't feel it has the set you back it the seat pull at 2k like the Tq cam but it pulls good on a 2k roll on and once it hits 3k it starts and just doesn't stop pulling all the way up to the 110mph speed limiter. It hits that like it is hitting a brick wall. So for the slab riding you are describing I would definitely recommend the Power Cam no question. For most the response of the Tq Cam is a great choice if staying with HD parts for concern of the warranty. My friend that is the performance guy at our local dealer thought I was nuts for installing the Power Cam but I have no doubt I made the right choice. Cruising at 80-90mph seems like no effort at all on the engine and you have great roll on from there. Even better if you do down shift and nail it. The Tq can just didn't feel quite like that at those speeds. Although it was still good.

P.S. While the acceleration is good with the power cam from 80-100, it is not immediate. If you want immediate then just do a much higher lift cam, head work, larger throttle body and injectors, and one of the 124" kits on the market.

Just an FYI, if you do any upgrades to your Powertrain with HD parts installed by HD dealer, installed & invoiced before the end of March everything will be covered under your warranty & extended warranty. Normally it has to be done soon after purchase to be covered but until the end of March if you still have warranty it will be included.
I’m having Stage IV done.
