Sliver is getting a torque cam!

Just dropped the scooter off at the dealer for the 1k and started talking with them about torque cams. They quoted me what I considered a fair price and the best of 2 quotes so i looked at the wife and got the nod. So hello torque cams! I'm stuck between sad and completely happy as hell. I love to do my own work, especially cams, but seeing as how the 1k was negotiated into the deal and them doing the cam carries it on the 2 year factory warranty, I figured this is a good way to prove whether or not this dealer goes on my "Me Likey" list and I can feel good about my decision. Stay tuned for the results on Friday or Saturday.

Cool!

Can a cam be added without changing intake and exhaust? Will the benefit still be there?

Congrats man! You do know there is only 1 cam in the M8, right? It may be a good thing that you are letting them do the work.

You would at least want to change the intake for more air in since you are going with a higher lift cam but I'm sure they will be doing the whole thing as in cam, intake, and slip-ons. He just didn't mention the other parts as that is what the stage II upgrade includes

That was cute, I see what you did there! This whole M8 ownership thing is so new, so I am still stuck in the past so to say. I bought the SE stage 1 intake, pro street tuner, auto tune/wideband module and to cap it off I will be running an S&S Sidewinder 2-1 with cat.

I'm not normally a big fan of that auto tune module but since you are going with the 2into1 it will probably do a much better job getting it where it needs to be.

Are you going Torque Cam or Power Cam? - Talk to Master Tech Mike about the difference and have him show you Dynos of each - With the 114, you have low end covered in Spades so a torque Cam that dies off about 3900-4K is one thing and the Power cam that runs that 114 smoothly and powerfully all the way through is another

While what you're saying is true, the issue is that with the street tuner you still have the 110mph speed limiter on the bike so you don't really get to utilize the power cams full potential above say 3rd gear. I have the power cam and I like it but in all honesty I am thinking that I should have gone with the tq cam until after warranty is up. I do still love the feel of the power cam on the slab but riding around back roads is where I would rather have the tq cam. I don't think either one is a bad choice though.

Huh? - 5th Gear at 80 MPH I am at 3100 RPMs on my 117.....Blast that fucker to 5500 RPM and then hit 6th.....I am at the end of the motor at 110 mph - With 127 FPT out of the 117 from the Factory, that has me covered on low end - With the above scenario on the hwy......I would have less than 1K RPMs for passing and such before my motor would fall flat on its face with the Trq Cam

BH does a lot of 2 up on his RGU and the 114 has I believe 125 FPT from the factory........just saying I feel the Power Cam balances the motor better vs having a ton down low and nothing up top - 125 FPT down low from the MoCo is damn impressive out of that 114......my thoughts are have the same kind of power up top for a better balanced motor to handle ANY situation it finds itself in

With all due respect brother Eddie, I never said the Power Cam doesn't work and feel good just that it's peak power isn't til after 5500 rpms. I can hit the speed limiter in 4th gear by then. Yes 31-3200 rpms at 80mph in 5th gear but there is still power left on the table after that and you have to go faster to get it is all I'm saying. Atleast the Tq cam's power is within the speed limiter so you can use it in the top gears if you so choose. I'm not sure you understand where I'm comng from on this.

Oh I get it amigo - The Trq Cam does its thing down low for the everyday rider and situation......under 3900 RPMS - My take is the stock 114 (and 117 in my case) has TONS of Trq already from the factory and having a motor fall sharply at 4K (seen many a dyne sheet on the Trq Cam) is not my particular brand of vodka - Not sure of the 107 Motor and stock Trq numbers but guessing it is in the hundred and teen range.

Its all just a matter of rider preference really and I enjoy the balanced motor - Not sure about the peak power being after 5500 RPMs amigo as the motor is dead at 6000K - See my Dyno sheet off the CVO
