Cylinder Head gasket leak

Has any one had any trouble with cylinder head gasket leaks. My 2017 RG Special started leaking after warranty expired (of course) Any suggestions to seal without engine removal? Maybe bars leaks? any suggestions

Are you sure it's a head gasket and not just a rocker box gasket? If it's a rocker box gasket it is not too bad to replace. Worst part is removing the oil lines on top. If it is the head gasket, that is a little more work and I would suggest that you take it to the dealer or a good indy shop. No way to repair without taking the top end off.

The only way to fix it is to replace the head gasket. If you have any mechanical ability and some basic hand tools and a HD repair manual it is a easy DYI. You can replace the head gasket without taking the engine out of the bike, just remove the rocker box, rockers, throttle body, and exhaust then remove the 4 head bolts and then pull the head. Make sure you use the same size head gasket when you replace it and torque the bolts to specs in the proper order.
Now for the bad news in most all cases the reason the head gasket is blowing out is because you have a pulled {stripped} cylinder stud and the only way to fix that is to drill out the stripped cylinder stud hole and use a Time Sert hole repair kit, other then that the engine would have to be removed from the bike and you would have to crack the crankcase and put a new case in. Did you have any work done to the engine such as a stage 3 or 4 kit put in? That is usually why a cylinder stud get stripped because the tech over torqued the head bolts. good luck hope all turns out well .

Thank you all for the info. I'm looking at the parts breakdown now. I am a decent mechanic and worked up my 2009 dyna. tried bars leaks which slowed the leak down. Its on the front cylinder. it is small but is making a mess when riding. have done no stage work on the engine at all still pretty virgin except for the harley tuner. want to move up to thundermax but need to resolve this problem first.

Like RGK said it may just be a leak from the rocker box which is good news if that's the case. If you have oil coming out then it's a rocker box gasket and it's a easy fix, a head gasket leak will not spew oil, a quick compression check will tell you if you have head gasket issues. Check and see if you have a loose bolt that may cause the leak. REMEMBER everything up there is aluminum and you can strip a hole real easy so do not over tighten the bolts.
