Sounds like they found a sumping issue in there.

do your lifters make a lot of ticking noise on cold start-up?

It makes a lot of racket on a cold start then after 30 seconds or so sounds fine. They said probably a lifter(s) leaking. I talked to counter guy today and my bike may be done tomorrow if all the parts are in. Truthfully, I don't really know enough about the engine to even ask the right questions. I just like the bike to run properly and be dependable. The engine and exhaust are completely stock.

Yes. Lots. See my response above. I notice it in the morning when starting and after work.

sorry i didn't see this post earlier. that's why i asked about the cold start issue.

mine's been at the dealer's for 2 weeks now.
oil pump, cam & case bearing, lifters, pushrods, pistons, cylinders and an entire new head assy.

it started ticking loudly at around 14K miles and got progressively worse. 18K when i took it in.
they kept it overnight and started it up in the morning while i was there.
the lifter on the front exhaust and the corresponding cam lobe were lightly scored.

so glad i didn't modify the engine now. the dealer really stepped up on this big time.

gonna do a write-up after i get her back lol

Wow. Hopefully mine didn't have any additional damage. Mine started doing it when I got back from Sturgis. I put another 3,000 more miles on it after that. No mods for me either. I do about 20,000 miles a year and the warranty means a lot to me. My 2015 was pretty much completely rebuild at 30,000 miles. My dealer has always been good to me too. They gave me my 2015 as a loaner bike.

we bought 2 bikes. my wife's bike had the transfer issue, mine doesn't. so hers has the vent, mine doesn't. but if it starts transferring, i'll get that sumbitch done. got almost 5k on mine now and no issues, so far.

My Special build date was 4/30/19.
The trike build date was 5/23/19.

The trike had the vent and 6400 miles. No transfer.
The Special no vent. 450 miles when I noticed it.

So somewhere in them 23 days they started adding the vent. If you want your exact build date your dealer can get you that info.
