Upgraded Tour Pack Hinges installed. [pics]

I recently got a set of the upgraded tour pack hinges (in chrome) along with EZ tour pack lid catch.

Genuine HD part number 79211-08A premium chrome tour pack hinges and
Genuine HD part number 53009195 EZ tour pak lid catch.

What a great improvement in appearance the new hinges make.

It took me a couple of hours taking my time and having a few interruptions.

Stock hinges.
I started with removing the hinge pins using two different sized Torx drivers, one smaller on the front side, and the larger on the back.

Remove the tether from the lid.

Pack hinge rivets drilled out from the inside using a 3/16 inch drill bit.
Make sure to chase the hole through before assembly.

New EZ tour pack lid catch.
This helps line up the lid during closure to make it simpler to close.

The joggled backing plate, seen sitting loose by the smaller backing plate with screws, has offset holes as well as the joggle. This goes on one way and took a few removal and installation attempts before I got it right.

Continued...

Clean up the inside from the shavings.

Looks so much better in my opinion.

They do look way better than stock OEM and I imagine they are sturdier, too. Nice job.

It does make an improvement when closing the lid.
