Enclosed Belt Drive Primary

Well, I'm finally getting my motor put back together and in the process of the removal I found that my primary chain and the sprockets are pretty much toast as the previous owner using the dealer as his service point never had any adjustments done therefore the premature wear after +30,000 mi. Since I already have the bike torn down this far my thoughts are that I may as well go ahead and either go back together with new sprockets and chain or go belt drive.

After doing some research and pricing I have come to the conclusion that it may be a better option to just go ahead and switch over to a belt drive primary as they claim it can't stand to more power and there is a lot less maintenance. I am thinking of going with an enclosed system as to save on money, specifically this kit: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/600-792.

In addition, I am going back together with original my motor setup; a 95 cu in big bore kit, with the following upgrades: S&S 3 piece flywheel assembly and timken bearing conversion courtesy of S&S speed shop, +.005 high compression pistons 10.5:1 , +.005 cylinder bore. Keeping the 257 cams, and the heads are good; CNC ported and polished. Already has the upgraded SE cam plate with the hydraulic tensioner.

What are your guy's thoughts, experiences, and suggestions as to what I should go with if indeed this Rivera kit is the right one?

2006 FLTRI 95 Cu in., CNC, 257 cams, S&S flywheel, V&H 2 into 1 Pro Pipe, SE Super Tuner, Jim's 6 speed trans, custom paint, radio delete, enclosed belt drive primary, 18 in apes

Thanks for the response Jack! So this indeed is an enclosed system that would work on my bike? Where do you recommend besides J&P, which I simply used as an example, to purchase my kit?

I haven't really compared prices, but I've often thought about going with belt drive and like one of the set ups I saw from Performance Machine.

2010 FLTRX With Plenty of extras, goes by the name "Hardeshia"

Man I love my belt drive factory primary on my 83 Shovel. In 32 years I have only broke 2 belts and both times the belt was under some serious distress at the hands of the souped up shovel.

On your bike the only reason to go with a belt would be it is cheaper. The power it will produce, a chain won't have a problem. There is a bit of a learning curve to riding a belt primary bike. They can be alittle bit jerky at parking lot speeds with out the compensator.

I had a beefed up shovel years ago and twice shredded the belt. I learned my lesson.
