Installed adjustable back rest today

I picked up an adjustable seat back for my 13 RG a few weeks ago, and I finally got time to install it today. At first the instructions made no sense, but gradually it began to make some sense once I saw the bike and the instructions all in one place. Most of the install was pretty easy once you figure out what parts goes where.
Some of the hardware was not the correct size. IE the washers provided were the incorrect size for the bolts. They were too big, so the washers sat off center under the bolts. Not a big deal in the big scheme of things. I had some correct ones on hand, so I used those instead. The one thing I did not quite understand was the seat protector installation. My seat did not look like the picture, so I left those off, and will ride it for a while and then remove the seat to see where it is hitting/rubbing, then install the bumpers as needed. The spark plug wire and vapor tube, adhesive holder was pretty bogus. I think I'll look for a better way to hold those. I didn't think that using a steel hold down on a spark plug lead was a good idea. TO much chance of it jumping to ground through the holder. It really should be made of plastic. The routing of the cable took some thought. I think I routed it about 6 times until I felt certain that is was correct.

I bought mine with the adjustable back rest. The dealership left the spark plug wire flappping in the breeze. It's great for finding the optimum adjustment for however you feel like riding while riding.

My buddy put his seat protector on his stock seat with no problems. I didn't put mine on & after 32K no issue. But I did but a small rubber nipple (similar to the ones on a bungee cord hook) on the end of the spring.

The dealer told me it wasn't possible to put an adjustable back rest on my 06 flh or 15 RG. Wrong!!!
Yes I did re-make the bracket supplied. The screw from the useless plastic heat shield secures it in place to the frame.
Works great!!!
