Handle bar risers for 2011 roadglide

Has anyone tried putting on handle bar risers on their Roadglide in lieu of buying different handlebars? I already gotten rid of the the stock bars, felt like I had drag bars, dumb. The bars I have on now are off a road king, there alright, though still a bit too short for me. I've got them pulled back as far as I dare and still I'm forced forward. I really don't want to purchase new handlebars if I don't have to.
Anyway, I was thinking on removing some of the plastic above the risers for the purpose of replacing the stock risers with 1" pull back risers.
Any thoughts to this endeavor?
Has anyone ventured into the darkness???

Cool

I know its a little different than what you asked but I think you should keep an eye out for someone running moderate or mid-height apes (like 12-14") and ask for a test sit. I'm short at 5'6" and my 13" bars are perfect, I cant imagine anyone riding with the stock bars. Im on a 2011 RGU, install was a PITA but worth the time.
