This is what I did at the front of my fairing. This way I have an unobstructed view that is more center. Its not dead center yet and I will do that and pull it forward abit when I do. I will then add a large (butterfly) washer for more stability.
I run mine on the top of my helmet. Less vibration - works best for me. I can turn my head and aim the camera a bit too. It depends on what you want to do. Here's a bit of Beartooth Highway, less than perfect weather at times: https://youtu.be/77spGyFTor4
