Hammock Seat

I'd like to hear from anyone who has used the Hammock seat. I ride a 13 RGU, usually two up with the wife. I'm looking for something to improve comfort on long rides. Sat on one at the dealer, but would like to hear from those of you who have taken them for long hauls.

Thanks.

It doesn't matter, as long as you ride.

Did an iron but on a Mustang Solo. 23 hours. Never again. Bought the Hammock. Next one was 18 hours. Last one was 16 hours. That was on my 08 SG. Traded that for an 11 RGU. Didn't have it long enough but was getting a hammock for it. Bought my 16 RGS. Also bought the hammock the day I bought the bike. On a run to Maine with friends I had the only Hammock. I was the only one ready to keep going at the end of the day.

This seat isn't for everyone. Your results may var . For me. It's the only option for touring. My wife also love the seat.

I run a solo seat for just around town. But any type of distance or when the wife goes. The Hammock goes on.

Go to the dealer. Try one for a few days. It's free.

I've got a hammock and love it. It's butt ugly but very comfortable. It also will hide a lot of the flaws in your stock suspension. I just bought the Corbin tour seat and it's really nice but a much firmer seat. I just put 300 miles on it yesterday and it was fine but the wife hasn't tried it yet so who knows.

Just rode 1300 miles in 3 days last month at the BIkes Blues and BBQ and was perfectly fine with the hammock. I would plan a long weekend of riding and demo one before you buy. To me it's a no brainer. If you don't like it your not out anything.

Take one for a demo ride. I rode about 70 miles on one and it hurt so bad I was breaking the law getting back to the dealer so I would not have to endure another minute.
Everyone has a personal experience and opinion of various seats. Nice that Harley allows you to demo them first.

Will the hammock accommodate my drivers backrest?

To answer your question, yes it will work. My Hammock seat accepts my Mustang drivers backrest, but the backrest post pushes on the front of the slit in the seat. I find this odd because it comes through the slit on my Sundowner seat right where it is supposed to. Odd that it doesn't fit the same on two different Harley seats. As for comfort, I did a 2800 mile trip a few weeks ago and I chose to use the Sundowner because it sits me lower and a little back further than the Hammock. This was important to me as I wanted to use my Airhawk cushion. With the Hammock/Airhawk combo the height is uncomfortably high to me. As it turns out the Airhawk was only used for about 400 miles of the trip. For some reason the Sundowner really fit well. This after buying the Hammock to replace it. The Hammock is comfortable to me for shorter rides, but the sling suspension in it adds pressure to the crotch after a few hours. Your results may very. Take one for a long test ride.

As Sometimer said. Demo all of them and see which one blows your hair back. Don't get in a hurry. The biggest selling factor to me on the Hammock was the fact that my wife loved it. If momma aint happy then Im not happy!lol

Thanks.

Thank you all for the input. Looks like next step is to demo one for a day.

I really like the hammock, the wife absolutely loves it (11RGU). We have the heated version. I think I've turned my heater on 3 times, the wife uses it all the time. I have zero complaints about the hammock, but loved my Mustang seat on my 96 just a little better. Don't know exactly how to say it because I would recommend the hammock to anyone (my neighbor just got one too).

First off, I don't know if all Harley Dealerships do it but I know our local shops will let you leave your seat and try any of their demo seats for almost as long as you want. I would see if your dealer offers that.
Now to answer your question. I have a 15 roadglide and as we all know the stock suspension SUCKS. The first thing I did, mainly for my wife, was buy the hammock seat. It helped a lot with her comfort. Personally my favorite was the tall boy seat but it cramped my wife too much. Don't get me wrong, the hammock is pretty comfortable for me also but the only time I put it on is when my wife rides with me.
