Dakota Digital - Oil Temp Install

So this weekend I saw a live set up of the Dakota Digital gauges on a bike. Gorgeous! Vendor asked $1000 for the set. Found an eBay shop selling the same set at much less. So pulling the trigger.

Question. In looking at a few YouTube videos on the installation of the gauges, I see a conflict in the video and the written instructions from Dakota. The issue is where do you install the sensor for the Oil Temp sender?

The instructions state that you should simply replace your oil plug with the sensor and then unplug the sender each time you change oil.

The video shows them using the "unused" plug next to the standard oil plug. I'd hate to crack that "unused" plug if there are any unknown issues and make this install anything more than the simple plug and play that I'm seeing.

So who's installed this gauge? And which port did you use?

Thanks!

Never mind. I think the instructions I saw saying to use the standard oil plug were for those who ride so little that changing oil is a every other year occurrence. Issue resolved.
