Luggage Rack or other quality options

Any thoughts on detachable luggage racks? It won't be left on permanently, only for long trips. I tried a shot at Ebay and bought an aftermarket stealth luggage rack. The chrome was horrible, it was scratched and pitted right out of the sealed package... I sent it back and I am still searching... Lowest price for HD stealth OEM I've found is 235$

Anyone know of any good quality options?

I have the same issue. I bought a stealth from PC Pain. I was going to buy aftermarket but was worried about fit not chrome quality. Why care about looks if the only time it's on the bike a bag is sitting on it?

A friend of mine said the same thing.... I know that even an OEM will probably get scratched with use, however I doubt the chrome will last long if it's pitted new from the box..... If I'm paying $165+ it should at least look pretty the first time it's on the bike...Lol

I'll Drop PCpain a message... Thanks Rich

Easy day. You will like that rack. I use it with the standard height backrest and the HD rolling tourbag and it works perfectly with only two bungee cords from the four corners of the rack through the carrying handle.

But I do see your point. $165 isn't chump change. Lol

I purchased a aftermarket stealth rack on ebay from a company called wisdom ,got it shipped for 169.00 bucks and the chrome looked good so did the welds and fit like a glove, im happy with it used it this past weekend on a long trip with my kuryakyn ultra tour bag, worked great, there was no way i was paying 299.00 from the motor company,no thanks.

When all else fails, hell there is always beer!

This is how I ended up doing mine:
Bought the detachable rack on eBay new without a box for $125 shipped
Then ordered the Tour Bag part # 93300004 from Kutter's Harley in Jainesville WI for $204 shipped to my door. Love the bag, it has plenty of space for me and the misses on longer trips and it all comes off in seconds for the look I really like
