Replacing Fork Oil

Hello newbie here,

Hopefully this will be a quick question for you experts out there. I replaced my lower fork legs on my 2006 RG with some chrome ones. I got allot of information from this site that was very helpful with this task. But when I went to re-fill the forks with oil, the right side went in fine but the left side kept over flowing as if there was something blocking the passage. Iím assuming that this is air; question is how do I remove the air so the oil will flow in like it did on the right fork? Or am I missing a step and did something wrong? Any and all help would be appreciated. BTW I am not a mechanic but I know my way with tools. Been working on cars for years, Harley's are new to me.

put some fork oil in and pump the slider up and down slowly, this will suck in the oil and displace the air.

Ive also heard of using 30w non-detergent oil in leu of the stock stuff. 10oz per fork. Heavier weight should keep the front from diving so easily giving you better handling.
