Brake noise

I just put new D2 Moto Kevlar pads on my 11 FLTRX. Used lube on the back of the pads. The calipers and rotors are very clean. Now I have a humming noise that sounds like a forest of cicadas when the brakes are applied. All bearings are good. The noise started immediately after replacing the pads. Noise comes from both front and rear depending on which brake is used. Any ideas?

I use the d2moto pads and never had a noise but I used the Sintered pads not the Kevlar pads. HD OEM brake pads are Sintered pads so I stick with the Sintered pads.

I put D2Moto pads on the front about 6k miles ago and don't have any noise. I too used the sintered pads. I did get that noise you mention with the stock replacement HD pads though. Everything worked like it should and stopped fine so I wasn't worried about it at all.

I have that same noise on my 08 but they are stock Harley pads. I'm actually as we speak debating on these d2 moto pads.

I started getting the same type of noise when I put EBC sintered pads on. Can't feel any difference. I thought it was a flake of paint off the backing plate catching off the rotors. It's only when I pull on the brakes and goes away as I come to a stop

I just replaced front and rear pads with the D2MOTO Kevlar pads and I have a few hundred miles on them with no problems at all.
My Glide stops as well now as it did before with the Lyndall pads I had on.
For the price, the D2MOTO Pads can't be beat.

Did you use brake lube on the back of the pads ?

Yeah, I lubed them. Doesn't sound like regular brake squeal. It's like a high speed clicking, almost like what you'd hear from a playing card in bicycle spokes but faster. I've got about 4500 miles on and the same thing as the first day. I have to swap out my rotors anyhow so I'll take a look then.

You can also try scuff pad or fine krokus cloth on the rotors when you replace the pads as well as I use a file on the edge of the pads to help seat them better, most riders also don't realize there is a break in period on new brakes, light braking for the first 50 miles or so to be safe.

When all else fails, hell there is always beer!
