Primary noise :(

Well riding home from work lastnight my bike aquired one hell of a rattling/knocking noise. I get home from work about 12:30/1 AM so I didn't get into it until just now. I put it up on my trusty HF lift table and started the bike to see if I could pin point the noise. The noise was coming from the primary, thankfully not the motor. Pulled the primary cover off and was expecting to see something that exploded. I did. The Hayden tensioner shoe split in two and both of the springs were literally dangling there. FORTUNATELY there is no debris and the springs didn't whip around inside causing any damage. Now Im going to contact Hayden and see what up and if there's anything they will do for a replacement tensioner.

Wow! That's a new one, I never seen that before.
I took my Hayden out and put the stock tensioner back in and I haven't had any problems, I did that because it seemed as if the primary chain was too tight with the Hayden tensioner.

The shoe has groove marks in it but pretty much on the front edge. It split right around the center of the shoe. I just read somewhere that apparently Hayden has "updated" springs that aren't as strong if you will. I got call into Hayden along with an email to find out what can/will be done. I'm just glad there isn't any further damage

Do you think that the BDL compensator had anything to do with it??

I never reinstalled the BDL after they sent me a replacement. I put the worn out SE comp back in. The new replacement BDL is sitting in the box on my bench

Following , interested to see how this works out. I bought the Hayden tensioner over 2 years ago but still haven't installed it. Everything in my primary has been good and I just didn't want to fix something that wasn't broke, I've had enough of other things to do.

If you see any debris at all around in the primary case, pull the stator and clean it all up. Better to be safe than sorry later.

I just got off the phone with a woman from Hayden. She wants to talk to someone there before she does anything but she did say that they changed to a slightly lighter spring for less tension on the chain. She initially told me that she will send me a the new spring and a new shoe but still wanted to confirm it with her boss I guess. She's supposed to be getting back to me sometime later or tomorrow
