Cool Factory 47 Malo bars

Ok I am sold on the Factory 47 Malo bars for my 2009 glide with ABS but undecided on what size to go with...I could take the easy way out and go with 10" so I wouldn't have to buy extended cables and wires but am I going to be happy with or comfort ? I see the most common size is probably 14" ?? I am not afraid to do the work myself so 14" is not a problem at all. I just want the best of both worlds...comfort and style. I am 5'10" with average reach and using a stock seat and pedals. If I go 14" how much longer do I need to go with the cables? I have seen 4" and 6" longer...don't want them too long or too short...I am sold on the Guerrilla wire kit and probably magnum cables although I am confused on that also...they say you must replace upper and mid brake lines where some one like HDbikeparts.com sells a kit that only comes with upper brake line? sure lots of mixed ideas out there. Just want straight up no problems...anybody that has experienced doing this ?

In most cases you can use all of the stock cables and wiring up to 14". I have 13" Twin peaks and all of the stock lines and wiring worked without any issues. hope is helps.

You are correct the most common size people go with is 14" or 16". You will see a lot of comments from people that went 12" or even 14" that "wish" they'd gone another size up though. I went with 16" and couldn't be happier. I'm 6'3 tho. With 12's you can keep your stock cables which is a real consideration if you're trying to keep it budget minded. Here's more info from Factory 47 if you haven't already seen it and several have gone to 14" with stock cables.

Malo Handle Bar (does not fit 2015 or 2016 Road Glide) ? Factory 47

For your 2009, 4" should be plenty. Give them a shout at F47 to verify, they'll know for sure.

2 inchitis

I wrestled with this same decision and after reading as many posts as I could and all the measuring I decided that the 12 inch would be perfect for me so I ordered the 14 inch ones because someone said always go 2 " longer than you think and you won't be sorry. Still waiting for them to arrive. Good Luck.

so you used the stock brake lines also ? everyone pretty much says I need to use extended by 4"...trying to find anyone who sells just the upper line itself as most say that is the only one you need to extend

Magnum shielding gives you the suggestion but IIRC you can just order the upper line. Which is all you'll really need. I remember talking about this at length when I was debating between the 14 and 16".

I went with the F47 Malo 12 inch, didn't have to extend anything if you have room in your fairing to relocate the plugs. Just had to reroute clutch cable.
At 5' 11" I am very happy with my 12 inch bars.
Sit on your bike hold a broom stick where you want the bars to be and have someone help do the measuring.
