Limp mode P1510

Hi guys I'm brand new to the site so please Bear with me. I bought a set of Harley Davidson handlebars the chiseled lo for my 15 Rgs. I installed them myself I put everything back together all the controls worked the bike would crank but would not start, I pulled the throttle by wire harness out and found the green plug was messed up so I cut it off crimped all the wires back together and used shrink wrap. I researched and took notes on which wires match with each other. Put everything back together started the bike, but now I have no throttle response and the check engine light is on. I found out how to get the codes and it's telling me P1510 but I can not clear it out. Any suggestions on how to get the bike out of limp mode and get throttle response back so I can ride again? Thanks in advance

First you must clear the codes. Check to make sure that everything is securely plugged back in. Maybe a crimp connection is bad. You might try soldering tbem.

This system is very touchy And the Green plug is important. Sounds like seeing as you cut it off, you will now need to buy another TBW sender throttle unit. Nothing can be wrong with the wiring as resistance is critical. So get a new one and start all over. Do not cut or modify anything, Nor nick anything. There are a number of threads regarding that code your getting which means only your in limp mode. Even the dealership messes this one up at times. It is a very fragile system, and the TBW computer brooks no nonsense. If it ain't right it will not work above limp mode. Start over with fresh unit. I bet it will work then. Sorry, but yours is messed up beyond repair at this point.

Illegitimus non carburundum. Or something to that effect. Jack of all trades, master of none.

You never want to cut the wires on a throttle by wire system. However, the guy I bought my 2008 from said he changed the handlebars and to my surprise, when I took them off, they were soldered together and they were working properly. I immediately replaced it all anyway. I'm pretty sure there is an extension kit available out there for your application. Peace of Mind goes a long way when your motorcycling!
