Riding along and clutch would not disengage when pulling in lever. Sitting at a light with lever pulled all the way in and bike pullls and actually died. No friction zone at all. Lever has very little resistance but returns to normal position when released. 2nd time it has happened. First time I took it to shop and they said the fluid was "burnt up". Tech did not even test ride it after flushing/changing fluid. 1000 miles, no in town riding, no riding the clutch.
Any ideas?
First, that's a clutch disengagement issue. Sounds like its engaged just fine.
If it lost no fluid, then its probably a bad master cylinder. Rubbers failing is probably why the fluid looked bad before. The rubber was breaking down a colored the fluid black. If it lost fluid, then you'll need to run down the leak. If it just can't be found, then its prolly leaking into the trans from the slave cylinder.
I replaced the stock slave with the Muller hydro clutch in mine, couldn’t be happier.
