Accessing the battery
I went to install the pigtail harness for my Gerbings liner today, and I was a little surprised at the number of layers I had to go through to get to the battery. I couldn't understand how to remove the cover that's immediately above the battery itself. There's an electronic unit that I was able to pop off and a few wiring harnesses that I was able to unplug, but the piece atop the battery didn't seem to come out (and yes, I did unbolt the two hold down capscrews). I managed to get to the battery terminals to connect the harness, but I had to pull back the cover and brace it with one hand while trying to keep from losing the post bolt while loosening - a trick that I somehow pulled off. But I'd be hard pressed to actually remove the battery if I had to. Anyone know of a trick to get to the battery itself? I also understand from cruising other forums that it can be a real challenge to grab and lift the battery.
What if the Hokey-Pokey really is what it's all about?
