Question volume won't adjust on radio sometimes

Might be something strange, might not.
First, I've had my RGC since Oct. 10, changed from a Valkyrie Interstate and VTX 1300C. Wanted something in between those 2 types of rides. I think my 2010 RGC will do the trick. Will find out soon, doing a 3700 mile trip from St. Louis to ultimately go through Sedona, Grand Canyon, AZ, then UT, CO and back home. Really looking forward to it.
Now my issue. I've had the dealer put on heated grips. I've finally had my son tell me how to put music on my Iphone and have hooked it up to the AUX plug of the stock radio. Works fine............but, sometimes the volume will be muted without me doing anything, then sometimes the volume control won't adjust the volume down, then, not at all, up or down. If I switch from AUX to AM, FM or CD, still no volume adjustment, never on down, sometimes will allow the volume to be turned up, then again, it won't adjust up either. If I turn the whole radio off, wait a while, I usually can begin again.
My question is, is that an Iphone, issue that messes up the whole radio volume, or is that an issue with possibly the dealer causing an issue with the volume control when they put on the heated grips, or is it a radio issue.
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Really would like to correct this before my road trip.
Thanks in advance for your help. I truly have learned a lot from this board, even though I listen more than talk on it.

It's under warranty I'd take it in to the dealer.

If you press the volume button IN vs down (I've done it easy to do with gloves)
and you are not watching the screen you can be changing bass/treble levels
vs volume

You'll keep pressing down, and just eliminate bass, and volume stays up

Consequently the opposite, if you press in and then up you'll be raising the bass but no volume.

Otherwise the dealer should look at it and record it as an issue under your
warranty...

Thanks, I figured out the bass thing. I'll check with the dealer.

Not sure if this would be your issue but the previous owner added chrome switch covers to my bike and the mode switch would only work up but would not bring down the radio frequency. I found that the black button was interfering with the chrome and had to file down the neck of the button to clear.

Sounds like a bad switch or wire problems. Did it work before the dealer put on the new grips ?

If I have to explain ,you wouldn't under stand anyway.

Yea, it worked before, and even after the new grips. Just started goofing up when I plugged in my iphone. Took it to the dealer last night, said they'd check it out, but probably as you guessed, a bad switch. None in stock, but on order. Hopefully it will come in before my 3,700 mile trip the first of the month.
