Starter Hesitation & Fuel Range reading

This problem happens on occasion. 2008 RG 45K mi. stock, New SE starter 8 mos old,
Batt 2yrs.
When I hit the start button the starter will stumble before turning over. Like the batt is low. When this happens the fuel range reading will say LOW. As soon as I start moving the fuel range will start to recalculate.
I'm wondering if the contacts in the Ing. Switch is not making a good contact.
Any ideas or similar problems? What direction do I go.

This happens to me on occasion, usually after my bike has sat for a week plus in the cold. I always put it down to cold weather and lack of charging. Never noticed the fuel thing though.

Are you letting the F.I. system turn on? when you switch on the bike but don't start it, it will make a *whirrring* sound while the F.I. computer turns on. Are you letting it prepare itself properly?

The starting problem is not in the starter. All of the starting problems are the direct result of the engine compensator sprocket. The stock engine compensator has weak springs and will cause the starter "clunk" that you hear when the engine catches and it will also cause "grinding" and at times "starter stall". Replace the engine compensator with the SE engine compensator HD part #40274-08 the part cost $249.95 and this will take care of all your starting issues. The draw on the battery when the starter struggles may cause the fuel range to reset to low but you should always let the check engine light go out before starting the bike.
