Redline Power Pack

I ordered the Redline Power Pack that includes;

5 quarts of 20W50 Motorcycle Oil, 1 quart of V-Twin Transmission Oil with ShockProof, 1 quart of Primary Chain Case Oil, 1 bottle of Fuel Injection Cleaner for Motorcycles, a sticker kit, a Red Line Oil embroidered hat, and a versatile funnel

Did all of the changes last night, added 3 qts of engine oil, 1 qt tranny (boy this stuff is THICK) and 1 qt primary while still level on lift. On the primary of could not tell if the oil was at the bottom of the basket but buttoned it all up and thought I would do some research to see if I need to add more before riding but they only include 1 in the kit. Dropped the bike down on the side stand and started for about 30 secounds then checked the engine oil level. Repeated this until it was full and ended up taking the entire 4th qrt even though I have read that it should only take 3.5 even with a filter change....

So back to the primary, only 1 qrt in and only have 1 qrt of the engine oil (20W50) left from the kit. Can I add 6 more ounces of the 20W50 or do I need to go buy another bottle of the primary oil? The reason I ask is that I know HD uses the regular synthetic in the primary but not sure if it will be ok to mix it?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I had ordered the same case from Red Line...

Luckily for me I had 1/2 qt left over from my previous Primary oil change so I used 4 ounces from that..

I dont know about the mixing of oils...
Doesn't seem right does it..?
Although I've heard that for Primary fluid, you can almost piss in there and it'll be fine....
Next time I order the Power pack, im gonna ask them to exchange a quart of oil for a 2nd quart of Primary....

I use Redline in the engine and tranny but haven't used anything but the HD stuff for the primary - Would be interested to know if anyone can tell the difference in how the clutch works. As to mixing the primary oil - I would'nt want to mix the oils only because of my OCD traits - but am confident that it wouldn't hurt anything.

You need an extra quart of the primary fluid. You only need one for multiple changes, but I think the Power Pak tells you this. I read it somewhere but I forget where. I wouldn't mix fluids.

I am going to have to order some more of the Redline Primary fluid because I cannot find anyone remotly close to me that sells the stuff. That means no riding for me this week end. Seeing this left over bottle of the 20W50 I feel like just adding 6 oz of it and going with it since it is just the clutch.....ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

If it was me, I'd run it as is and top off when I got some more, or not...

This is not an exact science you know. Overfilling is more of a problem than slightly underfilled. The primary lubricates purely by splash, so if the chain is in fluid, you're gonna be fine. I forget what the service manual says about level relative to the clutch basket. But this newer (07+) twin cam primary makes visibility pretty difficult...

You will need to add 6 more oz of the primary fluid. From the description under the powerpak:

For 2007-up H-D® motorcycle with the 96-inch engine, users must purchase one extra bottle of Primary Chain Case Oil, since that bike's capacity is 38 oz (45 oz dry), rather than the 32 oz capacity for an Evo or Big Twin case

I order the same power pack. Get a couple extra quarts of the primary oil to top it off. $15 per quart from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

Yeah, it tells you that on the Redline site but not on the Amazon site. When I found this out I was going to write and complain that they should swap a qrt of the 20W50 for another of the Primary fluid for the kit but then saw this note to the pack on their site. Wife called me today and asked if she could buy a Harley jacket and she was at the dealer. I asked her to just pick me up a qrt of the Formula + and I will add 6 oz or see if I can tell when it is at the botom of the clutch basket.

I've used Redline oil for many years in all three holes on my 3 HD's. 1 Qt in the primary is all that has ever been used. I'd rather have some extra engine oil around than primary fluid. I've bought it by the powerpak kit once, otherwise I buy 2 mixed cases which includes 16 Qt's for engine and 4 ea for primary and tranny.
