muffler bushing

2016 RGS with 3000 miles. Had true duals and V&H mufflers installed by dealer, Last week large rattle on left side of bike. Dealer replaced bushing on left side muffler (it was chewed up). Checked it this morning. Noticed some play on left side muffler as compared to right side (slight play). Is there supposed to be play or should the bushing fit tight with the frame? Any help greatly appreciated. CT weather finally getting better so I get to ride the 35 miles to work on the bike,

Are you speaking of the busings that are under the saddlebags? If so, those should be pretty snug in the little bracket that they fit into. The muffler shouldn't be loose and able to move easily. It's possible that the muffler clamp on that side got stretched and isn't tightening up like it should too.

I'm a little late on this one, but they should fit pretty snug. I have had to replace both of mine due to the rubber kinda drying out and allowing the mufflers to rattle.

I have the V&H Hi Output mufflers on my 2012 RGU. I had a situation where the left muffler kept coming loose. No matter how tight I got the clamp, it would loosen back up within a day or so. This allowed the muffler to slide backwards and rattle against the mount under the saddle bag where the rubber bushing is located.

I pulled the muffler and found that the "fingers/tabs" on the end of the muffler were badly worn and at some spots completely gone. The clamp could not tighten up enough to keep this tight.

The solution I used was to cut the fingers/tabs off and weld on some new ones I cut out of sheet steel. This solved the problem and the muffler has not loosened up in almost a year.

You might want to check for this on your bike.
