bars

I have a 2012 r g and wanna put some ape hangers on.. I had a 99 fast with 12 inch bars on it . I thought about 16 but now I'm thinking 14 lol help pleas

Measure 3 times....Purchase 1 time.
Measure height, width. and pullback that's comfortable for you.
Then purchase the style of bars that have corresponding measurements...

For reference, here is what a 2012 RGC looks like with 14" bars.

I could not agree more with ybnorml. Measure, measure and then measure again. Bar height is a very subjective topic. There are a few variables when talking about bars like what seat you use as different seats will put you in different positions, your particular torso and arms reach. With that said, I have wild1 12.5 chubby apes. They are rolled slightly forward and my hands are at shoulder height.

Bars

How tall can the bars be before you need to chanel brake lines and cables? Thank you!!

It can vary but most have said up to 14" bars

Had a friend thinking of putting 12" on his RG, sat on mine with 14" and now is going with that size. If ya can sit on another bike similar to yours with apes on it, that might help you make a choice. 14" Malo's on my '15 RG didn't need to change cables or extend wires.
