Cool 107 not 170

So today I drained the engine oil so I could install the oil temperature sensor that came in the kit of parts for the oil temp gauge. It works out nicely cause I needed to do my 10K service anyway.
So i'm looking through the installation instructions (yes, I am less than a man cause I read the instructions) and they say the harness needs to be connected to the old air temp sensor harness, connector #170 that runs into the fairing and is/was connected to worthless air temp gauge.
Now, I know I had read here that the air temp sensor was in the speedo/tach nacelle but I wanted to be sure so I was looking for it in the service manual.
There's a list of all the connectors in the beginning of the electrical section and where they're located but 170 wasn't there. Damn!
So I start going through the wiring diagrams and finally found the air temp sensor and it was connector #107. Yeah, not 170!
So I figured I would double check the installation instructions and notify this forum of the obvious typo.
Yeah, not a typo but what is more commonly reffered to as, a brainfart!
So I was surprised that the wiring harness that comes with the new oil temp gauge doesn't run directly to the new gauge but connects to the connector that the old air temperature sensor plugged into.
Huh, ya learn something new every day.
So that's what I did today. Will finish this up tomorrow and work on the Heat Demons grip warmers.
More to come so stay tuned!

Cool Oil temp gauge

From my friendly, neighborhood Harley dealer!
They're about $140.00.
Much less than I thought a genuine HD part would cost.
So far the install hasn't been hard, just a lot of fidgeting with stuff to make sure I don't screw anything up.
Good luck!

Good catch, I must have just looked at the pictures in the directions. When I found the sensor I was really expecting something a little more than a plastic square.
