Smart Siren II installation
Getting ready to do a cross-country trip in a week. My dealer always installs the alarm siren on their new bikes, but my '17 was a trade from another dealer and didn't come with it. I went to one of the other local dealers to check around for anything I may need for the trip and decided to pick one up. The parts guy insisted that installation at the dealership was important because it is an 'electronic' part and self-installation could be a warranty issue. What a total crock of horse shit. I asked to see the instruction sheet and it looked easy enough. As it turns out, on the newer bikes it's even easier yet. You simply plug it in to the empty slot that is there for it, plug the lead in that is next to that open spot, and put a strip of velcro on the frame and place the antenna wire between it. Total install time was less than 10 minutes.
I'm not the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to this stuff, so if I can do it, you can also. Now I know there are other options, such as the radio shack route, but part of the reason I wanted to go with this one is I already have the pager from my previous bike, which mates to this particular siren.
