Drive belt tension

Does anyone know the proper way to check the belt tension, sprung or un-sprung. I got the tool and know how to check and adjust if necessary. The Law Abiding biker video says just to let the bike sit normally, Ride it wrench it says to lift the bike and Fix my hog says to have someone sit on it? I could not find it in the service manual. It does make a large difference in the deflection when sprung vs un-sprung.

From the '18 owners manual:

Check deflection:
As part of pre-ride inspection.
At every scheduled service interval.
With transmission in neutral.
With motorcycle at ambient temperature.
With motorcycle upright or on jiffy stand with rear wheel on the ground.
With the vehicle unladen: no rider, no luggage and empty saddlebags.

Thanks, I didn't look in the owners manual, just the service manual, perhaps I missed it.
