Chopped to King Tour Pak

Has anyone converted a 2014+ chopped tour pak to a king? I bought a previously owned 17 RGS and it already had a chopped tour pak on it. After riding it for almost a year now, I can see where a little extra room would be nice. I rarely have a passenger and the bike had a really nice custom Corbin seat and tp pad already on it Id like to keep using.

Anyone know if the chopped / king lids are direct swappable? Harley P&A catalog shows the king as being 22 long vs. 21.6 on the chopped, but that is the measurement on the very bottom.

Great question! I always kinda wondered this as I always had chopped packs and at times thought about doing the same kinda thing. Looking forward to seeing the end all be all answer.

I pretty sure the lids are the same and the only difference is the bottom part. Now if you have an HD chopped TP and want to save money and buy an after market brand bottom you can't be sure that they would line up across the different brands. I would buy a bottom from the same manufacturer as the lid.

I started questioning because the chopped does not have a base plate and seems much thicker than the king I had on my 2012. On the HD part number stamped on the bottom of the chopped tp it also says "30% GLASS" so I'm thinking it's made different than the standard King.

If the chopped TP that came on the 17' SG is the 14' & up style TP then yes it will be a ton different than your 2012. 2013 and older TP's should all have the same lids with different bases and then the 2014 & up TP's should match accordingly. Sorry for any earlier confusion. You must match to the specific year model range.

Geez, if two saddlebags and a chopped TP aren't enough space for one person's luggage then you could always do what one of our other members did recently ..... he bought a 40' diesel motor home and mounted his 'Glide on a lift at the rear! He now has plenty of room for his clothes, riding gear, AND (literally) the kitchen sink! Lol
