Clutch Wiz vs Burley easy clutch

Last week I posted about changing my clutch pack (barnett kevlar +1) and diaphram spring( Barnett HD). After riding about 500 miles this past weekend, I am in deed going to be making a change. The pull is too tough to sustain through aggressive riding and in and around town. Some commented on both the the clutch wiz and easy clutch.

A negative comment about the clutch wiz was the "holding power" is reduced to make up for the reduced pull. I checked out the site and found the clutch adjustment after install questionable. They state to not back off CCW on the adjustment screw at all. Thoughts?

I am afraid the Burly easy clutch will extend the travel of my lever. It is already about 1.5 inches from my grip with a 1/4 - 1/2 CCW turn on the screw... Not to mention having to take the exhaust off (thunderheader race pipe) which will be a PiTA...

I am also considering buying the SE spring from harley. The easy clutch and the SE spring will require pretty much the same amount of work and fluids. Anyway I appreciate any insight and testimonials. Thanks alot fellas

I had a similar problem with the spring when I installed an SE clutch pack on my old SG. The pull was pretty heavy. Have you tried an AIM lock up?

I have not. I don't really want to spend a lot more money. Same with the VPC. I might as well have replaced the entire clutch after all that. I was looking at the AIM 340lbs HD diaphragm spring but wasn't sure if that would be enough for my bike. I'm only running low 100's in hp/torgue but don't want slippage at all.... I enjoy the new clutch system I have minus the pull on the lever...

Go with the clutchwiz, the barnett ez clutch is already installed in all factory harleys 09 and up I believe. if you open up the clutch you'll see a similar design from harley and you can't install the same part twice lol. The clutchwiz will allow you to run a much heavier spring like the 480lb Barnett spring and still have a clutch lever pull that is 2/3's the weight of a factory clutch pull! trust me spend the $115 you'll be more than happy!

I believe the easy clutch attaches to the ramp via a lever that attaches to the coupler... I think the "easy clutch" system harley uses is the extended ramp arm? Could be wrong though. The clutch wiz is more expensive and someone said it reduces "holding power" of the clutch. I ride aggressively so the wiz may not be for me. That's why I'm trying to see if anyone has experienced any problems with it.

I ran the Wiz all last year with SE spring. No problems at all.

When I added the SE clutch pack to my other bike I was about to go with a clutch wiz. But I traded the bike before I went that direction. You may want to check clearance on the easy pull. I read about guys having to grind some metal out of the cover so it would work. I don't see how the clutchwiz would give you any issues. It just changes the mechanical advantage on the spring. I don't see how it would cause slippage.

I'm not sure either but I've been told you need to go with the evo 480 lbs spring to do it right... I've put a 1000 miles on the bike since I installed it last week and the pull has eased up a bIt. I may just leave it be. Thanks for the replies

I ride aggresive as well, no problems with the clutchwiz, only thing is it's not meant for racing. Like drag racing, I have read many reviews on this with people with these radical built motors usuing the clutchwiz to reduce the pull of the lever, and lets face it, you don't build a motor to baby it all these reviews from these people have never had one issue with clutch slip or any other problems. You're just having a better leverage angle on the clutch itself to reduce the pull weight of it all.
