OK. I'm officially pissed now!!! I understand everyone's frustration with the inner and outer fairings not quite lining up. It drives my OCD brain crazy!!! Ok enough ranting. On my way back from Americade, I noticed the 'weather stripping' on my left side coming up. I didn't mind it much because I knew in ordered new stripping. ( X Trim everyone talked about)
Anyway, 2 days ago, I went in the garage and saw my fairing seperated by a good 1/2 inch!!! WTF!! The bike just sat in the garage. Has anyone else have this issue?? The only recent mod was installing the windvest windshield before heading off to Americade. I'm guessing the dealer will blame the Hogtunes speaker or the windshield. (&^%%*^$$#$&)
There is a black Windshield trim piece from Harley, maybe it doesnt like the WV??
any thoughts would be apreciated. its a 2012 FLTRU

That gap in the left picture looks way worse than normal. I did a Hog Tunes upgrade on mine too, and have no big gap like that. If you can't get it, you should take it back to the dealer and tell your salesman. Maybe he can get a shop guy to do a quick fix.

There is an extra piece of plastic around/under the speakers at that point. Having sort of the same problem I noted that plastic piece fits in an indentation in the inner fairing. If it comes loose it misshapes the inner fairing. I believe it is a speaker install issue. JMO.

Got the XTrim yesterday so I took the fairing off to start over and what did I find?? You were right. I must have hit a large bump (potholes in New York?) which actually jarred loose the plastic piece around the speaker.
I re installed everything and now have a good fit again. The XTrim is so worth it. Best 'cheap' upgrade I did!!:D

Now Im ready for next weeks 3000 mile journey!!

I agree about the tabs, what puzzles me is that this just appeared without the fairing being removed, the bike was fine when I parked it and the gap appeared a few days later.
I guess ill see when I have to remove the fairing to replace the old trim with the X- trim.
