I've like some advice from those of you that pull a trailer. I've bought a HF trailer am trying to figure out the best/most economical way to wire for the trailer. I'll admit I have limited wiring experience or knowledge and I don't want to take my ride to a dealer to install whatever I buy. How did you wire up your bike for a trailer? What parts did you buy? What challenges did you run into that I'll need to be aware of?
I have HF trailer--bought Kuryaken harness + 5-4 wire adapter. Your harness has to include an isolater so power for trailer lites comes directly from battery rather than drag down bike lite voltage. Kuryaken includes this. It was marketed as plug-and-play, but that was a misnomer. Installation was a little tedious, but instructions were fairly lucid, and lites all worked when done.
Conversely, a friend just installed the Kuryakyn harness on his Road King, said it was a cakewalk, all plugged in and worked fine.
Disclaimer: He does industrial electronics for a living, but if it was a PIA he definitely would have said so.......he said the chrome sucked on the Kuryakyn hitch he bought.

Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your responses. I initially was leaning toward the Hopkins 46255 Power Taillight Converter as it's $40 and appears to be an isolator with a 5-4 converter all in one, granted it isn't plug n play either.
TDKKART: I may take you up on your offer as I ride daily to work in CR.
I just bought a flat 5 connector from a trailer parts store when I wired up mine, and spliced into the taillight wiring for stop, turns, and tail- I used the taillight ground screw for the ground. I've found that some trailers are wired for 4 pins, and some for 5. When we re-did the lighting on mine, we set it up for 5 pin to avoid using a converter. I know the Aluma Mfg. trailers are set up for a 5 pin connection, using one set of taillights for tail/stop and another for tail/turn.
I also ordered the Kurakyan wiring harness and converter based on prior recommendations. Looking forward to camping and fishing on the bike.
