It's no longer a secret!

I'm afraid that it is no longer a secret! I'm afraid that RGs will become as common as SGs. Just during this past week, 4 of my riding friends bought RGs. I'm happy for them, but I'm sad for our secret society...

Yeah, the secret is out!

But so many people bought SG's but they're not ready for a new bike yet.
When they are though, watch out!
My usual riding buddies are an 883 Sportster, a Road King and an ElectraGlide Standard so no other shark noses in the group. And no other radio or cruise control equipped motorcycles either! :D

I ride regularly with a pack of 6 bikes. 5 of us have Road Glides. I'm on my 3rd FLTR. One of my friends is on his 6th and currently owns a 2008 and a 2012 CVO. The Road Glide secret has been out in So. Cal for several years & they're very common around here.

+1 on that. Many, many people look past my bike (which is ok by me) to stare at my friends bat wings. I don't believe it will become a me too bike. There like a fine caviar they are a distinguished taste, plus like caviar expensive and hard to swallow LOL :D

If you want to see an explosion of RGs, just let an ElectraGlide rider try one in cold weather or with cross winds. I did that and a week later my wife confirmed the upgrade with no hesitation. When it comes to handling in the cross wind or protection from the cold my 2011 FLTRU beats my 2010 EG Ultra hands down. My wife confirmed the wind protection to me before we got to our first traffic light.

X2 on that statement... Look @ any video of West Coast shows and Road Glides rule... Went out to New Hope, PA yesterday on my new RGC, only Shark in the area which had people looking at it as much as my buddies custom SG

I went to two bike night events in Pittsburgh recently. Both are held every Thursday night, one in the heart of dowtown and the other across the river in the South Side (they compete with competing radio stations as sponsors). Out of about 250 bikes in the downtown one, only 2 RG's. Out of approximately 175 bikes on South Side only one RG!

SG's are definitely the "flavor of the month" around the southwestern Pennsylvania area.

Does that mean that the Harley riding population in SoCal is more intelligent, perceptive and has better taste?

Hmm... :D

Without question. :D Oh, wait, we're the ones who brought you the Laffing Devils. Nevermind what I was saying.

I will have to admit that the RG is definitely not real unique here in these parts any more. I seem to see more Customs that Ultras, though, for what that's worth.

The dealers here in Colorado tell me that can't keep RG's in stock. In that same regard, we were in Souix Falls, SD visiting family, decided to hit the dealer there.... Not a RG to be found, complete sea of Batwings. Asked the dealer why no RG's and he stated that couldn't give them away if he had them. Said there was no market for a RG out there. He said whenever possible he sends them west.... couldn't understand why we find them so popular. He said that most of his clientel find them (RG's) ugly....

Almost makes me pity them just a little. :p

I think it really boils down to Road Glides being an "acquired" taste. But once acquired, you become 100% devoted. Its the only full fairing bagger that I would ever care to own. I remember when I first sat on a Street Glide. I'm only 6ft tall, and I remember my 1st thought being "This feels cramped". And when I see other guys over 6ft tall riding them, they look cramped as well, unless they are running apes. I think in 5-10 more years, HD will sell just as many RG's and they do SG's. The more buyers that test drive them, the more HD will sell.

In all honesty If Moco had not come out with a RG Ultra in 2011, I might have ended up with a UC or UC Limited. I really wanted a full bagger after having my Road King since 2006. I do a number of long distance trips and my GF needed more "room" and more comfort.

I have wanted a Road Glide for a number of years after a demo ride during Myrtle Beach Bike week in 2008.

When I purchased my 2012 RGU the dealer had 6 in stock. 3 Deep Blue Pearl 1 Red and 2 Black. By the time I rolled out of the dealership on mine the red and 1 black was also sold. I am seeing a few more RG's here in the Northeast over the past couple of years however most seem to either be 2011 or 2012 Ultra's or RG customs with tour packs installed.

More RG's in southern Maryland

My local HOG chapter has I'm guessing 7 RG's out of 550 members but When I
joined in 2007 there might have been one RG
and the chapter was at about 500 members then!

My local dealer picked up a blood red 2011 FLTRX and although is has 51K on
her it is a STAGE 4 SE build and only 24K since the build. They want 18K for
her and It looks brand new. Definitely have the sales manager trained to buy
more and he said they're moving quite well for him now!

When I'm out riding in S. Md. I usually see at least one RG on a 60mi. ride:D
