After over a year and a half I have finally finished the installation of my intercom /communication setup on my bike. I really have not been in a hurry to do this.

I started out by collecting the needed party.. mostly through Ebay. This saved me a bunch of cash. That which I did not get on Ebay I got through Horny Toad HD.

Parts
- Ultra Console (Ebay)

- Non Ultra Overlay Harness(ebay)

- CB Unit (Ebay)

- Antenna kit (Ebay) The bracket they sent did not fit so I purchased one from Chicago HD. It still needed some fitment work to make it right. They have the extra hole for the CB antenna but they do not make a bracket (or at least didn't at the time) for the FLTRX

- Boom - Audio Music and Intercom Kit (Horny Toad HD)
This included the controls for the passenger too. Very nice

- CB and Intercom download (New Castle Harley Davidson) FREE!!!!!

After getting all the parts I took some time a few months back putting it all together. The installation went well but I was having trouble putting the fairing back on... very tight fit. I took the non Ultra harness out and refitted everything. The fairing fit...success.

Once everything was together I took it to New Castle HD and they downloaded the Intercom but could not download the CB unit for some reason. I took the bike home and checked the pugs and wires. I check ed the pugs and thought I uded the wrong one since the tags came off. I switched the plug, bolted it all up and took it back to the shop today to get the warranty work done on the brake light switch and then for the service department to finish the CB flash.

Again the CB unit would not pull. Nothing. The tech had to pull the fairing and the download is now costing me dollars. As soon as he opened it up he saw that I forgot to connect the interconnect plug. I had it the first time and just missed it the second time.

The good news... the CB unit seems to work well. :D

I really like having the intercom for long rides with the wife. I like her not having to yell in my ear to tell me what I just missed. We have quiet discussions where to stop for grub and the tunes are much more enjoyable. I've only used the CB a couple of times. Haven't really found much use for it. Congrats on getting the install done.

I added the CB and intercom system to my '09 too.
I found that the CB comes in handy when riding with my friend (he has an Ultra).
When on cross country trips (solo) I have it on channel 19 with the squelch turned up. This way if someone close talks, I can hear. But I don't hear most trash.
