Not sure where to post sorry Mods. I wanted to throw out a buyer beware for eBay seller harleyrob1013. I recently purchased a radio sound headunit from this seller that was posted as working low mileage take out, well I get it install it and it powers up. I finish getting the bike together and go for a ride some days later and the radio goes dead and will not power up at all. I contact the seller and pretty much get told to lump it. Sorry for the length and the rant.
Look at your listing when you bought from this guy. Was it "as is" or advertised as "used but working?" If it was supposed to be working I'd report it to Ebay. Also before I buy I always look at how many items they have sold and what their rating is. I also read every negative comment before I buy anything from anybody.
Being a used radio and the fact that it worked at first, it's hard to completely fault the seller, unless he gave some kind of guarantee. E-bay has it's ups and downs, you have to be careful and as stated before, research the seller.
the item was listed as a used low mileage take out that is in working condition. the seller tried to fault me stating that i installed it wrong (even though you just plug it in). ebay sided with me when sent to dispute process and i was able to get my money back and had to return the item to the seller. i did not notice until after the purchase this guy has only had three sales on ebay including mine. it was my bad for the poor research but it does not change the fact that this guy attempted to scam me.
Not defending the seller but electronics can be sensitive at times. That is why when you buy SOME electrical items there may be a no return policy in place. The radio may have been in working order when the seller took it out of the bike and something may have happened during shipping, so it would be hard to claim that this was a scam. This is the very reason that I don't like to buy used items unless I inspect the item in personally.
I'm not trying to be a smart-ass, but try buying a brand new HK radio from your dealer, installing it and then taking it back dead a few days later. I'm betting they'd tell you to lump it too.
I did the Street Glide rear fender conversion on my 09. Bought the LED running light (along with the rest of the parts required) and a few days later found out the P&A catalogue had a run/brake combo light. I had yet to install my fender tip kit, so I went in to exchange the light.
No Dice, No Exchanges or returns on electronic parts, working or not. No exceptions.
If you know anyone who need the LED light assembly, I have one, new in box...
I'm glad ebay sided with you but 2 things would have jumped out at me from my experience:
1) The guy had very little experience selling on ebay.
2) Sounds like you were saying that he claimed it was working when he pulled it out. That alone sounds like he is anticipating the sucker not working.
