The bike looked great, all black has 33,000 miles was pretty much stock. Had a painted inner fairing and true duals that I had never seen before. On the right side the pipe had like a hair pin turn then went back to the other side. (looked cool). He was going to put on a new front tire and wanted $12,000. Is this a good price with this many miles?

If it was me, I'd look for an 09 or later, due to the new frame and 96" engine. I'm betting you can find one for $12K (or maybe just a little more.)

I bought my '05 FLTRI in January with 37K miles with painted inner fairing, aftermarket exhaust, heavy breather, aftermarket grips, shifter pegs, brake pedal and floor boards, plus a detachable king tour pak. List was $12,995 and I bought the bike for $11K even. Not the best deal I'm sure, but I tracked down previous owner and got a lot of good information about the bike. Also, same dealership and the 2 others in town have similar bikes listed for higher since it's riding season. By the way, '05s rock!

I don't know specifically about the RG but you could get a carbed Street Glide when it debuted in 2006. I think the Ultra was fuelie only by then though.

I purchased a 05 FLTRI (fuel injected) last September for 13,000 from a local dealer with 35,000 miles. I also purchased the extended warranty and paid them to inspect the cam chest. Tensioners were good but they noted it was burning a little oil.... New top end, pistons, jugs, rings for $50.00. The bike is awesome! May be I paid to much? But don't care, I'd buy this bike again. The 05 Rg is a great motorcycle!

.... I personally don't think you'd go wrong with the '05. :) But obviously.... I'm biased. :p

I weighed my options and my price. I held out a little longer and found a 6 speed. I'm glad I did. You may want to also consider options like ABS and security. My advice would be don't jump on the first one that seems like a deal. Shop around and see what's out there with what you want on it. Good Luck!

What it comes down to is what YOU like! That being said, I love my '05.

I'm sure I'm alone in my opinion, but I previously owned an '09 FLTRSE3 (incredible machine), but ended up selling it because I personally didn't care for the new frame. Every other thing about the '09 I felt was an improvement, namely the ABS. I'd give anything to have ABS on my '05.

I was fortunate enough to buy my '05 back, and I won't ever make the mistake again. I personally don't think you'd go wrong with the '05. :) But obviously.... I'm biased. :p

Ive got an 05. But I agree with FLTRI, I would look for a 2009 or newer. There is so much more being offered for these bikes. The 99-06 are like the evos now. Not many companies are making the newer parts for these older bikes. Dont get me wrong, I love my 05 and plan on keeping it to pass down to one of my kids.

People always get hung up on the mileage. Really, 33k on an '05 is very low mileage.
Hell, I have 31k on my Glide, in about 15 months... and I don't ride as much as I'd like.

Maintenance, and records thereof, is what you should be concerned about with any used scoot.

This site is perfect for all the info I am getting. Thanks for all the help. I think I am just going to keep on looking and learning as much as I can until the right deal happens. The longer the season goes the prices should start falling.
