been looking around at bikes a lot of you guys post pictures of and it got me to thinking. How much have you put into your glide (money wise)?
The days of building a bike for 3 grand are things of the past.

I don't even want to calculate how much I've spent on my last 2 bikes, my wife teases me and says I could've bought a CVO, which is true, the only thing with that is if I bought a CVO, I would still change and add a few things which means I'd spend even more.

I haven't really done much, but even that has been expensive! I think about $3K (including installation costs). And counting...:D

Very little, actually.

Cams w/ instal $450
Tuner, A/C and slip-ons $600
Take-off Limited front wheel $200
Ultra Tour-Pac from eBay $1000
Rear crash bars, $125
Riders backrest, $150
HID head lights, $100

That's about it. I went wild on my 99 Road Glide, and semi-wild on the 03. Most of my riding is two-up long distance touring, and that is how I set the bike up. I'm pretty much done, not much else I need or want to change. One thing I've learned is the faster you make it, the faster you break it...

It's all about the process for me. The research, planning, shopping and garage time make me happy. I just got my 2012 RGU and will probably spend $6,000-$7,000 over the next year or two. Right now I'm just trying to form a vision before I get started.

I shop pretty thoroughly though and try to get a deal on everything.

even if you had kids, you'de just ship them of to san diego like I do every summer.

j/k ~ miss my girl ~ one day we'll go fishin'

I've got about $2k of empty nothings into my bike

yesterdays $3k is today's $10k

$10k seems like the magic number, I know people spend way more.

I'm saving, I want that, that's what I'm thinkin'

just glad to have the world's best platform to start with. road glide.

"as much as I keep trying to get out, they keep sucking me back in."

I've spent about $3000 on my RGC so far, but doing much of the install work myself has saved me about $500 in labor. The main pending expense is just upgrading from a Stage 1 to a Stage 2, so that's another $1000-ish. So that will put me at about $4k when I'm done. I'm not too big in the bling-bling, so I think I can stop there. I'd rather start saving for a 2nd scoot.

The more you read this forum, the more you will spend on your bike. Everyone here has good ideas and I seem to buy every one of them. So, I guess, if you spend a little at a time and don't add it up, who cares how much you spend. (but don't let the wife know.) I can't even guess how much I have spent and I don't want to know, "but I like it".

Initially I wanted a CVO,....wife said too much $$ ( that was only hearing the price, not having seen one). The other day we were in the local dealer buying some parts and there was a beautiful Skunk CVO.. and the mrs went all  why didn't you buy that one! It's gorgeous! Now....she tells me.
To date, i've spent about $1200.00 on it, and not planning on doing much more to it, other than sheild and a few other small creature comforts.
Though I could catch the mod bug, and there goes my intentions.

Uh-ah, ain't saying how much ...my wife knows about this site!

I can't be for sure because I lost all of my receipts when my other computer went down. But I think I've only got around $5000 to $6000 in mine. If I had to pay someone else to do it all, the number would probably be upwards of $15,000 if not $20K. Thats where wrenchin on your own bike really pays off.

A gentleman never asks a lady her age or a friend how much it cost...

...because the answer could embarrass the friend, disrutpt domestic harmony, or bring an abrupt end to the denial stage.

Furthermore, the answer has no meaning as it has a very, very short half-life.

not deep just stretched a little more then some:D i would say 10k is a good number i mean look at prices a grand for a set pipes,or audio upgrade,or apes,or suspension upgrade, stretched bags +$$ to paint then theres the cheap stuff seats 500+,mirrors100+ grips 100+ highway pegs 100+ and on and on.thats not even touching wheels+ rubber 3k+ so yeah dropping 10k is easy to do.just do a little at a time its less painful!!!:D

I've put well over $3k into my RGU and unless you looked very closely, the only things you might notice are the V&H Monster Ovals and the chrome forks. Everything else is either very subtle or where you can't see it.

The bikes you see where they look radically different have a LOT of $$ in them.

This goes to show yah, just like I said "days of building a bike for 3K are long gone". I spent that in pipes alone! I want to do so much, but want to live long enough to enjoy it! We need to start a poor mans fund or something? If i can't ride it I at least want to be working on it (right)?
