I went to an aire show today. They had a nice close up spot fir the bike away from the chages. My girl counted the bikes there, she said there were 43. Cool so I counted the Street Glides and I seen 13. Wow 33% of the bikes there were SG and there was a whole 1 RG (mine), 1 Fatboy and a Road King. It is like this everywhere? I never see RGs but I see SGs all the time.

lol I get around a lot so the secret wont last... I'm going to the Iron Horseman's 37th annual street bike drag race tomorrow. I'll do quick count of RGs there. After I wheelie the whole track they will all wish they had a Road Glide. ;)

The Batwings (street glides and ultras) are definitely more popular as they always outnumber the road glides anywhere from 10-20:1 around here. However, our bikes are gaining popularity at an unreal rate around here. I was picking up some parts at the local dealership the other day and they had 5 or 6 sharks on the floor. While I was waiting on the parts I was watching the people looking at bikes and almost all of them stopped at the sharks and were talking to salesmen about them. The rows of batwings were not getting any love at all.

We don't sell bikes at out shop but at any given time we have 20-50 bikes out front so people inevitably stop by and ask prices on them. When I tell them we do not sell bikes and that the bikes out front our either customers bikes in for service or our personal bikes they tell me they are in the market and are trying to figure out what they want. Since our secret is out I tell anyone wanting a Harley to give the Road Glide a shot before making a decision. I have had a few come back and thank me for the recommendation and say they never would have thought about one until they rode it and realized how incredible of a bike it is....I love that people are "seeing the light" so to speak!

That's why I got a RG. Too many SG out there, including the guys I ride with. And buying used gave me an added bonus. A SG, same yr and mileage would have cost me 2k more. And mine came equiped with a quick detach tour pack, LED's, air horn and more. So here is another bonus for us in the Shark tank, if they do catch on in popularity, our used values will go up so we can put more money towards our new RG!!

I did a poker run yesterday. About 40 bikes total, 21 Street glides and my shark. Every stop was the same business....everybody asking about my Road Glide. They were all hot shots talking about their Odometers until the bad weather rolled in.....about half dropped off before the rain even started! Funny Stuff!!

I doesn't take any thought to follow the crowd. All it takes is a desire to do what others do and a need to hide in the crowd. RG owners don't follow crowds and the stand out among the crowd unlike the SG zombies who look like the same people doing the same thing and riding the same bike. Don't get me wrong, I like them all but the RG is the best!!

I think the dealers have a lot to do with the popularity. The dealer I bought my 1st 2 Harley's from wasn't a big fan of the Road Glides and only sold a couple a year. The dealer I bought my Road Glide(1/2 hour away) from rides Road Glides and promotes the sales of them. If anyone has a question or would like a test drive he has a Custom and an Ultra to try out. They have a hard time keeping them in stock and had to put in for a supplementary alotment to get mine when I went to order it in Febuary of this year. Best decision I've made concerning buying a new bike. Every time I ride it I find more things that I like about it. Never going back to a batwing.

I went to the Iron Horseman's 37th annual street bike race today. There was ton of SGs there. Maybe 10 RGs and mine was the only one that raced.

When I first bought my RG, of the 100+ people I hang around there was only 1 other RG, now there are about 10, 6 of them are 2012s, I hate to see what 2013 brings, lol.

My father in law currently rides an 06 Voyager and was at a Harley shop the other week looking at... an Ultra Classic  I'm trying to convince him to test out my custom (all the while knowing my evil ways :D) instead of batwing. I cant figure out why he would ride that fixed fairing voyager and then go look at a batwing when he specifically mentioned thats what he liked about his bike and mine. The funny part will be though is if he does trade for something, his wife usually follows suit a few months later...

I was doing my usual "every 2 weeks see what's new" stop at M&M Leather last week and a small pack of guys walked out to their bikes...and stared at mine. I kind of gave them a confused look, the one says "Um, is that a fixed fairing? I don't remember seeing any Harleys like that at the dealership." This cat was seriously dumbfounded, I couldn't believe it...must've been new to the scene.

As for dealer love, one of my good friends owns a big HD dealership and was breaking my balls because I bought my RGU at Laconia HD during bike week. He says "There's the twin to your bike (pointing at one on the floor) and I can't wait to get rid of that piece." I couldn't believe he said that since while I was at Laconia HD, the RG's were FLYING out the door while the SG's were getting moderate attention. At least that's how it looked to me!

Most just follow the "Pack" twice a year we take a two week trip, during these trips we would sometimes hit dealers just prior to them opening, as the empolees started arriving to work 9 out of 10 were on RGs, well I though I must be missing something, I test rode one, I will never ride anything but a RG, the "pack" is however starting to figure it out as is seen with the motor company offering more RG models.
