So the wife gave me the thumbs up to pull the trigger on a new Harley in spring of 13. I have an 04 Road King Custom with Feuling 525 gear drive cams and cam plate, stage 1 a/c, and thundercone slipons. After 840 miles in 2 days she said, "I want one of those seats with arms" (king tour pak) So she said i could get a new scoot next spring as long as it had the tour pak. I'm gonna dive head first into the shark tank and get the RG custom. Not sure what color (i'm hoping the MOCO releases white) but it will be anti chrome from the start. Going to add vented lowers (for future tunes upgrade) and the tour pak on quick detatch hardware. Unfortunately i haven't been able to find the quick detatch mount in black so i guess i'll have to send it to the powdercoater. going to keep the a/c stock for a while til i can drop the green on th thundermax but will be putting black true dual head pipes and probably go with CFR slipons. Bars will end up either with the OEM monkey bars(16") or evil apes(17"). When she's in my driveway i'll do a detail build with pics. I already can't wait!

Have you priced color matched vented lowers and a king tour pak with a back rest?

Just buy the ultra. If your wife likes those arm rests, you won't be removing that tour pack as much as you think! Plus you get all the extra goodies with it.

You might do better money wise to get the Road Glide Ultra. It will come with the color matched tour-pack and lowers. I'm sure you can figure out a way to detach it.

Either way you go that's a long time to wait and stew over it. Congrats

To each his own, but I prefer enough things that are only on the Custom that I bought one and added the chopped tour pack. The price of making the Ultra tour pack detachable is also a hurdle. Good luck with whatever you decide. Welcome from Maine.

I know the 4-point docking hardware comes in black. The piece that i am refering to is the one that actually mounts to the tour pak itself and has the detatch cams. The price to make the ultra tour pak removable will be one of the main factors. Other than that i am not to keen on the wheels. I know just change them. But i am already going to drop some coin for the whole package either way and i can deal with the stock custom wheels for a while. The tour pak will be in the garage most of the time. it will mainly be used for long rides. We will be making our maiden voyages to Sturgis and Daytona on this one and i like the idea of travelling with the pak and then removing it once at our destination. Praying for white

The tour pack mounting bracket is not offered from MoCo in black. You shouldn't have an issue finding someone to PC it for you. I had mine done by a member on here and it came out just as it was a MoCo item. Below are the colors offered on the Custom in '13 but who knows maybe the CVO will have something to your liking.

Vivid Black
Big Blue Pearl
Candy Orange
Black Denim
