Wonder if a few of you could answer this ? I want to put Vented lowers on my 2007 Road Glide..I have bought both right and Left Fairing crash/engine brackets so far and about to buy the MAin Inner fairing bracket from a 2010 and up.... Question is what else do I need.. Some say I also have to buy the 2010 and up Radio BRacket as well as they are different for 2010 and up as well????

Thanks

You DO NOT need a new radio bracket because you are raising both the inner and outer fairing as a complete unit.

I know I purchased the newer radio mount when I did the fairing conversion and don't have the inner clearance issues others have had between the mount and outer fairing.

When you say " I purchased the newer radio mount when I did the fairing conversion and don't have the inner clearance issues others have had between the mount and outer fairing."

Are you talking about the RADIO mount or the INner Fairing Mount?

hogger, here is the number for the radio caddy, 77078-98A. It is for all years. I don't have the rubbing issues some have had with their mounts rubbing holes in the fairing from the inside out. I suspect the moco found out they had an issue and made a modification to the height of the radio caddy (mount). Check to see if have rubbing through the outer fairing. Check out this thread

Your correct on the main inner fairing bracket and crash/engine brackets. You should be good to go with what you have. My conversion was from an Electra Glide into a Road Glide. Your just changing fairing geometry and position. Sorry if I muddied the waters.

The older style radio brackets did rub the outer fairing and you should inspect the outer fairing for damage, if you see the grooves in the outer fairing you can fix them with JB Weld. To FIX this problem you only need to take a hacksaw or similar metal cutting device and cut the corners off the radio bracket. The radio bracket did put groove in my outer fairing on my 08 but I caught it before there was to much damage. You can still use your radio bracket for this conversion just make sure to cut the corners if it wasn't already done.

Has anyone tried and confirmed that the older lower support brackets will not go on the bike when using the 2010 upper support? i know to use he vented lowers you need both but if the old brackets can be used I can whip up a .5" spacer in the machine shop and get longer studs for less than the $80 they want for the 2 lower support brackets.

You can force the fairing to fit with the earlier bracket, but it will put a strain on the fairing. It will crack over time.
