Beautiful evening here in Ohio. Just the perfect temp. Just out for a short ride. Rode the highway about 20 miles west and then turned around. After a while I got to a straight section with no traffic.

From 70 I smoothly rolled into full throttle. At an even rate the speedo just wound to the right. The acceleration seemed just as strong at 100 as it did at 70. I watched the tach roll through 4000 in sixth gear!

The bike was rock solid and it felt like I could have ridden it no hands. (No I am not that crazy!)

Then common sense took over and I backed off the throttle, slowed to normal highway speeds, put my feet up on the highway pegs and cranked the tunes.

Life is good...:)

Sometimes I also get that crazy feeling to take my hands off the bars. I guess part of me still thinks I'm 20 y/o.

You can ride all day with no hand on a RG at 100. I know its silly to do but I seem to been lucky with it :) I road almost 100 miles with no hand a month ago at 90+ mph.. never once did it feel scary.

How'd you get the cruise control to stay on? Mine kicks off at 85 MPH...

I was on Rt 2 between Vermillion and Huron....

Wish it was as nice tonight as yesterday....

You are right life is GOOD, just for info I've got a buddy that is a MC cop here, he advised he get most of his "activity" setting at the bottom of on ramps, that was where I have romped it, so I'm changing up location of such activity to another location

My cruise cuts of right at 85 on my 09...
Mine too.

Thought maybe someone found away to trick it into going higher. It's annoying when it's set at 83 and you start down hill, and speed up a bit. Hits 85 and dumps the throttle...

Century mark is it? I find that my speedometer is off about 2 mph at 65. I have never tried 100 mph because that is never a safe speed and my skin counts more than my reputation. Sorry guys but I find your goals completely wrong for a sane person.

Different strokes and all that. After the motor work on my FLHP I could hit a buck fifteen in 4th gear. *shrug* It all depends on a million different factors.

100mph is not "never a safe speed" to a lot of folks in a lot of places. 60mph may not be a safe speed under different conditions as well. It's all relative.

That said, I know what triple digit speeds are like on my bike. I also know I don't go no-hands at those speeds.

Hi All,
Glad I found this thread since I was already thinking about having my dealer checking the Cruise Control! So from what I read here, it's by design that it does not activate above 85 mph?
I was already getting annoyed the last weeks, I could accelerate with the CC up until ca. 143 kmh (speedo reading) and then it suddenly deactivated :(
I kept on trying a couple of times but no chance.... So this would make sense then, if 85 is really the max.
So does anyone know if this setting is anywhere configurable? 160 kmh = 100 mph would really be the perfect long haul speed if you ride boring motorways (Autobahn) over here on your own, you still have sufficient reserves for passing if needed - but you would not go 120 extensively with the Glide anyway.
So if anyone has an idea how to trick the 85 limit?

Oh - and NO! Do never go hands free at this speed, not for fun or anything, this would just be a complete unnecessary risk for nothing! You might do while going slow on an empty road for checking trim, but that's it. No matter how professional one might be (just my few cents...)
Greetings Jens
